Good For basic equipment

2025 the thing still working. Good for emergencies and charge your car battery. remember to use the right amount of two stroke motor oil otherwise you will get alot of smoke. also before you shut it down close the fuel injection thus you make sure enough fuel its out of the hoses to last longer. From my end still star as brand new and I haven't changed the sparkplug. I use it at least once a month for 8 hours. If you are planning to power electronics pair it with a UPS or surge protector as this generator its not built for them.

Updated Review! Original Purchase Date 8/14/2017. Still works great!

The media could not be loaded. Update 1/20/2024** I'm updating this review because after 7 years this little Pulsar 1,200W generator is still reliable (I originally paid $143). So this past week we were expected to have a winter storm with temperatures in the single digits, so I got both my generators out of the shop and made sure they would start. I last started the Pulsar generator about 6 months ago. This past week I did have to clean the spark plug, but once I did that with just a few pulls of the cord it started right up! Simply amazing. As mentioned before, I only use gasoline that is free of ethanol and I always treat the gas with a fuel stabilizer AND TURN THE GAS OFF AND LET THE ENGINE RUN UNTIL THE CARBURETOR IS EMPTY for best restarting results. I really don't use this little generator much anymore since I have upgraded to a duel fuel generator that I only run on propane, but it really is impressive how long and how well this generator has worked.Update June 9th 2018 (I give it 5 stars now), I've had this little gen for around 10 months now and it has never let me down, not once. I do make sure and cut the gas valve off each time I'm finished using it and let it run until the carburetor is empty (completely). I haven't had any problem starting this generator after it has set for over a month. Just make sure and use good gas (no ethanol unless you use a stabilizer in your gas ** just avoid ethanol in all 2-stroke engines***please*** you'll be glad you did) and always run the carburetor empty after each use. I recently (last weekend) had to use this generator to replace a broken hinge on the entrance gate to our property. It was sure nice being able to run this out of the back of my truck while it powered my electric tools. *** I received the Pulsar PG1202s 1200 watt 2-stroke generator on August 22, 2017. I bought this generator hoping that it would be an inexpensive power backup to our Renogy Solar Panels. First off, I paid $138 and change for this unit, but I took advantage of the Prime shipping and standard delivery (received about $6 off the purchase price for the delayed delivery option, which turned out not to be a delay after all!) The generator was packaged well with foam inserts within a retail box packaged in the Amazon box. Overall the quality looks to be really good. The finish is good, all instructions were well placed, written, and made sense. I added a little premium unleaded gas and 2 stroke engine oil to the tank at 50:1 ratio as recommended, switched the choke lever to choke, pulled the recoil starting rope a few times and the little generator started right up. I have ran this generator for about 6 hours now simply breaking it in. I applied a few light loads, a few heavy loads, and ran it some with no load and it performed well each time. Note; I did notice that the voltage fluctuated a lot at low rpm/load levels (my lights were dimming and getting bright). It's not real loud-depending on where you are standing and I really didn't notice much of a noise increase during heavy loads. Time will tell if it will last, but right now it seems like a very good product and an excellent price for backup power. Items I powered up with this generator. Drill press, large shop fan, band saw, bench grinder, angle grinder, radio, and 3 fluorescent lights. I ran all these at the same time, basically it powered my shop. However, it would not start my pancake compressor (13 amp) and I don't think you need to run anything to sensitive with this generator unless you clean up the (power) sine wave.

Junk

Junk, gas tank seams and mounting holes leaked from vibration,it put out a surge of electricity 3 times in a 15 second time period that blew my new e bike battery charger ,3 of my phone chargers,2 of my Ryobi battery chargers and batteries and left my outlets in my camper smoking on the strip plug outlet and my shelf plug out let that has 2 USB ports .It has run properly after I adjusted the governor spring tension but continues to bust leaks in the tank as well as the recoil cog broke so I had to use my drill to start it ,the gas line also broke and the carb leaked at the bowl gasket.Fortunately I am a mechanic and with the help of JB weld I have managed to keep it going for 2 months but now the tank is completely shot from vibration leaks at the seams and even at the handle on top one hole had to be JB welded but the carb now is not holding steady rpm and also the blue wire in the it indicator light for power output burned up enough at the clip for it t to fall off and that stopped the power output til it was tightened up and put back in but the carb being out of sync is now causing now power again . I am surprised that it hasn't caught fire yet but I am about to put it out of it's misery with a sacrificial burning ceremony.I bought this one to replace the one I bought just like it in Feb.this year that as til ran good although vibration has caused problems with the casing with stress cracks but the first one was stolen 2 days after this junker arrived.I hope whoever stole it has the same if not worse experience I have had with this and I need my generator to run my camper otherwise I would have returned it but because the other one got stolen I had to keep trying to make the best of a raw deal. And both of these generators made noise inside the generator that was not of the normal when they produced power as though they were extremely stressing the mounting hardware of something that has to do with putting out the power .I am a mechanic of engines but know knothung about the internals of generators and their components other than improper rpm causes improper voltage whether high or low and improper voltage ruins appliances that have capacitors like air conditioners and refrigerators and I have no idea what goes out in battery chargers but It assume it's of the same origin ,the exiter of the electric circuitry ,all I know is what I have seen not just from this generator but I had another bigger 4000 watt generator that the rpm was to low on the output of power that caused my refrigerator and air conditioner to both stop kicking in the compressor.I was going to buy another recoil but I'm glad I didn't,I got more time in this junker than money but actually my time is worth a lot of money and I have worked on this generator more than half of the 2 months I've had it since July 1rst.I use a generator for about 4 to 6 hours at the most every other day to keep batteries charged and food cold enough to not spoil ,nothing excessive and I run it at the 2pm to 6pm or 8pm hour with my air conditioner ,the refugerater is a 12 volt Coleman cooler and the air unit is a small window unit 5000 BTU. My camper is a 7ft by 7 ft rebuilt box that was a pop out camper the tent part gone in both ends ,very easy to cool.Thankful that my new air conditioner has not suffered any damage that I know of as of yet ,I'll know when I get a replacement for this Generator .

Not a bad generator for the price!

I bought this generator over A month or two ago. Only needed it temporarily, so wasn't too worried about a lot of wattage output. The one thing that was a very pleasant supprise was that i could run my 2 fans my desktop with dual monitors, and my little lamp , as well as charge my phone and 2 battery packs/ As well as ru8n electric cord to my friend's place where he ran a fan, lamp. 32" tv and a vcr or dvd player...This little 1200 watt peak generator not only did that, but where my friend's 2000 watt 4stroke generator would run both placers, it was always dimming the lights and almost cutting my pc off at times---where as this 1200 pulsar generator never dimmed the lights once doing it all..the 4 main drawbacks i found--- #1 would not run my hotplate,#2 will not run space heater big enough to heat normal size 10' x12' ,,and #4 and the worst of all of it is that it cost me almost $10 a day just to run the generator from around 6:30pm to 1 to 3 am in the morning everyday. so that's almost $70 a week($3.00 or more for 2cycle mix and about $7 in gas every night...But all in all i still got mine, will use it as needed and if need be ill buy another one of these gems
