This is perfect for winning up your man's beard/ facial hair, for a first time user it was very easy to use. It was quick and efficient, and the extra blades guarantee that it's always at its sharpest perfect for a clean cut. Great gift as well, as a stocking stuffer or for a relative. Comes packaged nicely and is good quality. I was very pleased with this purchase.

Let me preface this review: I was not reimbursed for this review and I have never used a shavette or straight razor before, I had always used an electric razor as I get pretty bad razor bumps and all those 3 blade and 5 blade disposable razors make them way worse.I purchased this after my barber used a straight razor on my neck and the razor bumps didn't come back! He explained how to use it so I purchased this and I was very pleased.The quality of the handle is fantastic, it is light but has enough weight for tactile feedback and to counter balance the tang. The metal is of fantastic quality and holds the blades firmly. There were no visible defects of the wood or metal when I unboxed it. The weight is ample, not so light that I felt the need to excessively press down but not so heavy as to be clumsy. It closes properly as well, which seems to be an issue with a lot of the cheaper shavettes.I took the plunge today and used it for the first time solo, granted I gave myself some razor burn and a few nicks but overall it was a thoroughly enjoyable experience. I would recommend that you look up the proper technique for straight razor/shavette shaving if you have never used one before. I ended up purchasing a sample pack of different blades as I have a very thick beard and was not sure how sharp the lord blades would be so I have not tried the blades yet though it is really nice to have 100 included (enough for 200 to 300 shaves depending how many shaves they are good for).Overall, the quality of this product for the price really surprised me, I had looked at the parker and equinox but some reviews complained that the blade moved a lot, this was not an issue for me as the facon has a locking mechanism that presses both sides of the razor holder together, I even got the blade to "sing". I researched reviews for many of the lower cost blades and took a gamble on this one and I am sure glad I did! For the low upfront cost, included blades, and quality I think this is a fantastic straight razor especially for those looking to start using straight razors.Update: I ended up trying the lord blades and they are fantastic! Sharp but smooth and less razor burn and bumps than the Mercer and kai blades I tried! So glad I got 100 of them included!

I am an experienced straight razor user for some time. I owned an awesome straight razor handle from England, but I lost it on a trip, and they no longer sell it on Amazon so my search for a new handle led me to this one. What I can tell you is that the handle feels good in your hand and can move into positions that are comfortable to hold so you can guide the blade on all the shapes of your face. Now what I didn't like about this razor is that the piece that comes down to hold the razor into position is just not tight enough for me and sometimes the razor has slipped out. Now this small problem is very minor and if you are careful cutting your facial hair which you should be you will be fine with it. As for the razors that come with it because of my experience with so many different straight razors through time I do not like these razors they are just not sharp enough for me, but I am a perfectionist with my cuts and lines. However, since these razors are not the sharpest around this could be good for some people especially those with less experience using a straight razor because it's harder to cut your face with these razors. Now again I am a perfectionist so for the average user of a straight razor these blades should be fine. In the end I do recommend buying this straight razor handle in the time I have used it I have grown to like it. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is because of the razors. But again, remember that I am a perfectionist with my facial hair and I believe that when a person sees me with such perfection done to my face, they know that I am a guy who always keeps himself together

This turned out to be the best razor I own. I figured that for its price? It was an inexpensive way to try straight razor shaving. Upon receiving it? I immediately noticed that this is a well made and sturdy piece that’ll easily last as long as I do!! The blades that it came with? Are some of the best I’ve ever used. Incredibly sharp & smooth!! This was a win all the way around for me!!! This product is an excellent introduction into the world of wet shaving and if you’re curious? You simply can’t beat the price & quality of this one. I’ll most definitely buy this again should the need ever arise but as well made as it is? I doubt I’ll have to.

4 years have passed, so I guess I'll write a review. This razor set has been perfect! First time using single blade razors and I'll never go back to the 3,4, or 5 blade cartridges from other companies. The 100 pack of razors they supplied me are finally coming to an end after 4 years, and the build quality of the handle has been great. The screw portion has come loose a few times, but easy adjustment. The black finish is coming off slightly, but all the functioning parts are still functioning properly. Highly recommend if you're just starting off or even if you have some experience. I mostly use this to line up my beard and neck section, but I'll also used it for other parts on my body. Just bee careful and take your time!
