Both USB and HDMI is a female faceplate and a female rear tail
A great idea but not perfect, you do need to be aware of a few details . Firstly I used this to connect a SWANN CCTV NVR housed in a new room in an extension, to a monitor fitted in a room next door. The CCTV only needed HDMI and USB to control it, and using this would allow for a nice neat job without cables just appearing from holes in the wall.I ordered a 45mm deep matching back-box as I knew the rear tails would be a struggle to fit in it. The HDMI comes with a female faceplate and female tail. A standard HDMI went from the CCTV to the rear of the socket. And then a standard one between the faceplate and the monitor. It just about fits in across the diagonal of the back-box with a bend to the cables. I’d ordered a male to female USB extension to go from the CCTV to the rear USB tail, as it looked right on the item’s image gallery. Be aware though, the USB also comes with a female faceplate and female tail. Having run the cable in I ordered the smallest gender bender I could, this was not small enough to fit in the back-box though.Thankfully I had drilled a 28mm hole through the wall in to allow cable plugs to go through. I’ve had to place the USB joint into the hole (on a cavity wall) so not ideal. I’ve taped it and fingers crossed it’ll be good.Apart from that it’s good, and makes for a neat job, especially so as equipment can then be removed if needed without leaving cables behind. It’s easy to install but just be aware that you need to ensure the rear cable joints are as small as possible. Space is tight. The main point is to ensure you have male cables plugging into the rear socket tails as you won’t really have room to fit additional converters.
