Prototype PCB for Arduino MEGA 2560 R3 Shield Board DIY

This is a nice little board to use with the Mega. But, as I learned the hard way, there is virtually no clearance between the bottom of this board and the top of the Mega’s USB connector so don’t plan on being able to mount anything in this area. I had to order the Adafruit 3366 stackable headers to jury rig enough clearance for the circuits I had already built there.

Really cleaned up my project setup. 3 breakout boards had been taking up an awkward amount of space but now they all live right over their Arduino mega.

Just got this in and tried laying it over a mega2560 to see how it fits. The board is well built with full pipes and printing for all I/O, which is linearly moved inward from the header pins, which are not of the stacking type. They included an smt push button switch for the reset which is a nice option and recommended. Pay attention to the section of board that extends over the usb shield when working with this, as it could short against the metal plating. I recommend a bit of hard plastic(not tape) glued over the usb socket to prevent shorts, There is no expansion of the power lines, which can get a bit crowded, but this lets you choose where they go. Just use bus wire and lay it along the route you make for common and power as needed.
