Perfect in my window with no need for sealing blocks
I love this so much, I just ordered a second one for my son’s room. It’s been in my Amazon basket for close to six months. I finally decided to make the order, hoping it could just sit in the window opening without all the hassle of installing the sealer/spacer blocks. It does just that, and this also allows for quick/easy removal in the case of heavy wind/rain storms. It locks in the window tracks just enough to keep it snug. Because of the foam pieces that are already assembled on the unit: the right side somewhat locks behind the window frame and the left side locks in front of the sliding window. We also have a screen to block bugs, so no other need to use the blocks and it’s easy to remove.I’m also finding that the exhaust feature actually pulls the inside temperature down, so two benefits to that. Not expecting to need to fan feature too often.

To y'all that mis-led me on my questions I ask about the size/width of the portal model
The media could not be loaded. See my video, the portion/part of this Portal model that actually slides into the wondow frame (where the sashes slide up & down) is TWO INCHES shorter in width then what reviewers AND Sharper Image states. I was told 25.95 inches. That is the dimension of the front part that sits on the window sill.I bet Sharper Image lost alot of sales because they state this is for windows 25.95 inches and wider. Thats BS 💩 . This Portal model slipes right into my 24 inch wide window sash area. A matter of fact theres like 1/4 inch of side 2 side play.I was willing and did purchase this from what I saw and believed what I saw in the pictures of this Portal model. And I was right. If I took what I read as "gospel" I would NEVER HAVE BOUGHT THIS, But! a picture is worth a thousand words or In this case unspoken words of ignorance.I've been trying to ask more questions to the reviewers whi bought the items (this and many more) I want to purchase and 9 out of 10 responders KNOW NOTHING. HELL I have some people answer my questions by saying "I didnt buy it but blah blah blah". They must be very lonely people.OK, this Unit, its a slick very and has a very stylish look especially if it fits exactly like it doed in my window. I was lucky. I only needed 2x 1inch wide foam spacers that are mostly hidden by the side flanges. Like I said,I was lucky.Noise levels are low even on highest speed. The problem is that high speed is really like low speed. They kept the noise level down by keeping the fan at lower speeds. Im taking mine apart to see if I can get more air output. I dont care if it gets louder I WANT MORE AIR !Anothe problem it that its not a wireless device. Well that is simply rectified by installing a wireless PWM on the output of this. Its a simple cut and splice in the OWM to the one wire to the fan motor. Its so simple its pathetic. I'll just keep this unit on and turn the motor on/off and adjust the speed with the newly intalled wireless PWM. O the wireless PWM is less then $10 on amazon.I just cant understand the logic of some executives of companies making ignorant decisions on products that they are in charge of making. Just can't understand it.Ok I conplained enough. Its an ok unit but way over priced but I can use the basuc unit to make a great fan. I will update.

Function
This product is for when it is a little cool outside. It's wonderful for when it rains and you don't want to close all your windows. But definitely does not move the air around enough to Make a huge difference. It all depends on what you want to use it for. I would recommend it for the fall. And remember for the days that it's hot out and it rains and you don't want to close all your windows this is a perfect solution

Sealing air caps.
I had read the reviews and it and decided not to buy it mostly because of the sealing issues and the squirrel type fan they use, but my wife bought it without my knowledge. So I decided how hard could it be to install ? Take my word for it, I’m not sure anybody could come up with anything more stupid as far as sealing around it.1. Foam inserts are about 1/4” higher than the seals on the top and bottom that are factory place.2. The edges of the fan unit are not square therefore when the butt the inserts up against the side you have a very nice bug doorway all you need is a little food for them and you can take some nice pictures. If they would just extend the factory seals on all four corners to about an 1” they would at least solve this problem.3. If you need to place additional inserts against each other for large window you can have even more gaps for bugs, “come on in I welcome you!”.4. If you do need to install the inserts make sure to grow an extra arm for each,,plus one to hold the unit.In the end, I bought some good two side tape and some 1” square light foam from the hardware store. This helped to finally get it sealed.Pros:1. Seem to close a baffle when powered down, hopefully this keeps bugs out, can’t really see how well the baffle seals without dismantling it.2. Fairly quit.3. Quality good.4. If you want a nice simple and quiet breeze flow it not to bad.Cons:1. Sealing, just plan Stupid, no really stupid!2. Exhaust power ( What I really needed it for). If I were to rate it with a score from 1-10, I’d give it a three, I would not buy this squirrel type fan for exhaust purposes, but remember my wife bought it, and I must keep my mouth shut, and my eyes from rotating to the back of my head at all times which is the true secret of a good marriage. The only reason I did not give it lower than a 3 is most of the lower reviews are always purchasing, condition, and quality issues, which I had no problems with any of these, but I wanted people to read my review.
