Gentle persuasion on how and why you can improve in mathematics.
Book arrived in excellent condition(as expected of a new book). Got this book so as to aid in my re-education in mathematics and numerical programming. Going through the book, the table of contents indicates that the chapters are arranged in such a manner, as to provide you with information concerning the behaviours that are expected of a mathematician. This books discusses what you should do in order to develop similar behaviours and making it habitual. The proof of why you can achieve these targets is given in the early chapters and fortified thereafter.

Much better than the old school methods.
Good examples, well explained, for someone returning to the basics. Good use of analogies for comprehension and easy retention of concepts.Using colour descriptions in a black and white book maybe not so helpful - but not an insurmountable obstacle to understanding the content.

A great read.
Since I was a kid, I simply hated maths. This book, however, really made me look in it in a totally different light. Thank you!!

Great idea
I enjoyed the contents, well articulated and well argued. However it left me wondering if it would appeal to people who weren't interested in maths in the first place.

This is a budget edition.
The outer cover is printed in colour. The rest of the book is a monochrome print. Some pages with diagrams should be in colour.

Not in the slightest bit insightful or helpful
I took absolutely nothing away from this book.Perhaps I already have a mathematical mind and that is the reason. However, the content felt largely to be a soap-box platform for the author to descry how maths is taught with a few exceedingly bewildering tips on how to make perfectly simple calculations thrown in.If you see the sum 17 + 8 and the number 25 is not instantaneously in your head then this book maybe for you.

Made me look at math's differently.
Growing up I dreaded math class as I struggled with a lot of the concepts. This book helped me to see I wasn't the only one who felt that way and that it's good to revisit algebra and understand from an adult perspective why they used to teach this! I would recommend it to anyone as an adult who doesn't feel maths is their strong suit and needs a refresher.
