R in Action: Data Analysis and Graphics with R Paperback – Illustrated, 4 Jun. 2015

My daughter (studying economics) had to learn R in a short period from a background of no coding whatsoever. I helped her identify this book which has been immensely helpful to her. The author very kindly lets you read the whole text as a free e-book first, which we did. We found it so helpful that we’ve now done the right thing and bought the book. If you’re faced with learning R I really recommend this book.

Very nice R codebook for any level learner. It has more contents than what i expected. If you think it might be too expensive, then I will suggest reading the same book online, because it is also free. Then you can decide whether to have a hard copy. I think using a hard copy can be more productive than the book.

A good book for the beginners. Though tutorials component could be improved. Overall, good starting point to learn R.

Bought this book for university, which was of great help as the program can be a little difficult to grasp at first. The book guides you through all the basic program settings and helps 'translate' a lot of the jargon related to the subject. Brilliant!

Excellent book. Clearly written. Plenty of examples. I recommend it to my students at every level and use it in my teaching.

If you know what you are doing with R this book make sense. If you are trying to 'get it,' this book is not very useful. Someone should write a good tutorial about R--I tried this for some of my students and it just did not do much. Yes, I kind of get it, but I'm so old that I learned Fortran on the mainframe!!!
