I have used this meter now to test over 500 capacitors and it has performed flawlessly. The only situation I would advise users of is not to relay only on the auto-ranging capability of the meter. Auto-range works great but for some capacitors the ESR is close to the limit of two ranges and the meter will jump back and forth trying to resolve the resistance. If this occurs simply press the mode range button once or twice until the reading stabilizes. This meter can be used for in-circuit testing of capacitors as well but so far I have not needed it for that.

No bad only complaint was one of the terminals was loose at base, had to open unit to tighten from inside, other than that working well

I'm am amateur at repairing circuits, but this device is great for testing capacitors in circuit which is very helpful. I've already repaired a few devices with it by finding bad caps. The only tricky issue with this tester are the short leads which others have pointed out, but that is due to it being so sensitive that the leads must be short for it to work. You can snip off a short piece of wire and put in each alligator clip to make the test leads a little more useful for getting in hard to reach areas. Overall this tester is a must have for doing any circuit repair, especially looking for bad caps.

This tool works but the cables are very short making it a bit difficult to really take advantage of it. It does measure good though.

Very accurate and couldn’t be easier to use! It saved me many hours not having to desolder over 50 surface mount capacitors just to locate the handful of bad ones, which it did very quickly. One of these should be on everyone’s repair workbench, just wishing now I’d gotten this years ago. I recommend getting this model with alligator clips, since it’s easy enough to clamp in a couple cut-off through-hole capacitor leads for makeshift probes that end up being quite precise for poking around a board, while still having the convenience to solidly clamp onto new or existing capacitors. This shipped out and arrived quickly too, so if you’re on the fence about getting this, don’t hesitate…I was really impressed and I’m sure you will be too!

Worked great the first few weeks then 1 week after return window closed to Amazon, the unit has failed and will not check capacitors anymore. Simply terrible. A real waste of money. :-( Not recommended to say the least.
