Excellent for the cost.
This is an excellent option for the newbie and for the hobbyists. Its a great nifty fifty prime for the price. The foreground focus is clean, while the background gives a nice faded bokeh. Its perfect for headshots and bust shots. I haven't used it for street or even architecture, yet. There's a noticeable difference in the quality of the build compared to a OEM Canon lens. Yet, it's about the same size, and same functionality. I've had many different Canon and Nikon lenses throughout my time, yet this one is half the price with a better-than-average result.Totally worth the money spent.

Amazing lens for a cheap price
I bought this for my Cannon EOS Rebel T8i. It fits perfectly, and it works amazingly well. It was the cheapest option available to me, and I was very nervous upon ordering, but I couldn't be happier with my decision now. I am posting some photos that were taken with this lens.

Amazing bang for your buck!
I am no expert photographer, matter of fact I’ve only taken a dozen of photos with any camera other than my phone! I watched videos and read tons of articles on photographing people when I eventually came to the conclusion that the 50mm was pretty much a staple lens for this. I was hesitant because there are so many others that are a lot more pricey however this one is great! The pictures are of my son and I feel like they turned out amazing for a newbie like myself! It’s well worth the money for the clarity and quality of the photo!

Good Lens
Its been couple of months I have been using this lens occasionally and its actually good. Lens quality is not that great but its good and doesn't feel cheap. Its not as good as canon but yes in the price this lens does an excellent job.

You get what you pay for, and a whole lot more
I'm no professional photographer, but I've been doing amateur photography for over a decade now. I also rarely do amazon reviews because I rarely am impressed or feel the need. In this case, I am both impressed and feel the need to leave feedback. I am not an employee of Yongnuo, nor was I given anything for this review. I bought this lens with my meager blue collar paycheck.I'm leaving this review because this is one of the best lenses I've ever owned. It's far from the best lens in terms of quality, nor does it have built in IS (image stabilization), so you'll probably be able to tell the difference between this and the highest end Canon CN-E 50mm that retails for $3,000. Yep, $3k for a nifty fifty lens. On the other hand, this lens new runs for what, $70? The performance per dollar spent on this is astronomical.I previously owned the first version of this lens for about a year. I purchased it preowned and sold it when I sold my Canon SL3 to buy a full frame camera (sold the lens because I didn't know which brand's full frame camera I was going to go with). I ended up going with the Canon 5D Mark II. It's slightly older than I wanted but I couldn't pass up the price, less than $400 for a full frame camera that I can install magic lantern on and only had 25K shutter count. I immediately went to purchase another Yongnuo 50mm but discovered there where actually 2 versions, the one I originally had and this version #2. So I bought this and my first experience wasn't a fluke, these lenses are the real deal. This lens does something for the entire photography consumer market; It shows us that there's a huge, MASSIVE markup on lenses. The quality & performance of this lens is virtually identical to the $200-$300 Canon version (my girlfriend has one and I've used it on many occasions) but without the insane markup. Hopefully Yongnuo will keep making lenses if only to provide more competition which will drop the price across products & brands.Drawbacks: This lens is NOT built like a tank, like the high end versions or Canon's own high-end 50mm. It's also not weather sealed nor has any bells or whistles (no IS). Since this lens is so cheap (monetarily), it doesn't really matter that it's not built like a tank, if it breaks it's not going to cause you to sell your car or take out a second mortgage to replace it.

Great for street photography
While there is a mk2 version of this lens, I actually prefer this one as it is lighter and easier to carry when I don't want to bring my whole camera bag. As a prime lens, you have to use your legs to zoom in and out, but it focuses quickly and the wider aperture range allows for more artistic shots. The lens hoods that I currently have are not compatible with this lens, but the glass is recessed enough that I don't think that one would be necessary. The small form factor also helps to prevent accidental scratches and dings. Don't lose the lens cover and you should be fine.Edit: I purchased a used one of these, but it seized up after about 6 weeks and it turned out that the previous owner dropped it and tried to fix some of the internal mechanisms. Replacing it wasn't a big deal, but know that the lightweight construction makes this lens much less forgiving than the comparable Cannon model.

Average product, functional!
It’s not bad, but nothing special either. Works fine, but I think there are better options out there.
