Electro-Harmonix SYNTH9 Synthesizer Machine Pedal

UPDATE #2: Electro Harmonix has a department of its company that fixes their pedals that have become disfunctional. it cost me like $30 to get my pedal totally fixed! that is freaking awesome.UPDATE - this pedal has totally died, months before its 2nd birthday. i have never had a pedal totally die on me before, let alone so soon. the pedal had never left my smoke-free studio, so it's not like it was getting knocked around traveling to and from gigs. very disappointed.---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------i absolutely love the Synth9 pedal. sure, i wish there was more to it, like jacks for 2 expression pedals for the CTRL knobs, but who's counting? i have long been seeking ways to make my guitars sound like synths (and i've briefly owned the EHX Micro-Synth pedal, and i thought that one sucked). but combining this pedal with my new EHX filter modulation pedal The Blurst (with an expression pedal attached) & their Superego synth engine pedal (with my Deluxe Memory Man in the FX loop), i think i have finally found the sounds i've been looking for. my acoustic guitar even sounds phenomenal! being able to blend FX sound & dry sound is pretty sweet. sometimes i don't want to hear any "guitar" & sometimes i do! i've always loved the combination of acoustic guitar and synth. now i have them both at the same time. or i can add a little overdrive and/or distortion to my electric and this pedal makes some awesome howling sustains. normally, i buy my music equipment from Sweetwater, but Amazon had this in stock a couple days before Sweetwater, and i had to have this the second it dropped.

Has great synthesizer sound's? It has 9 setting's for an awesome keyboard effect for your guitar!

At some point I should have stock in Electro harmonix. I have so many of their boxes. this one is just plainly simply AWESOME. I am doing so many synth pieces now, like subdivisions, Dreams (Van Halen), Between the wheels (rush), and where the streets have no name (U2). really fun stuff.

Excellent sounds. My tube amp became a live soundtrack from the 80’s.

For what its intended to do, its really really great, just kinda disappointed i cant shred on it for the price, its tons of fun, high quality, and easy to use, but just not very responsive to fast playing techniques, maybe if i throw it at the end of my signal chain? But then itll get muddy

to start out i must say that this may not be a fare review because i bought this box to use with my theremin/theremini ,NOT a guitar .....so take it for what its worth....most of the presets on this box do not work but a few do. its ok becaus it will produce a sound on my mimi that i can not otherwize produce on the mini with out the box. a $ 25 behringer fuzz pedel works better...

The box the pedal came in was thrashed and looked 50 years old but the pedal appeared new. Generally, the durability of the unit is a scary thought. The metal and switches don’t feel as well made as say a Boss pedal. The battery eliminator used narrower wire than my aftermarket units. Of the 9 presets there’s probably three or for that I can foresee using in a church setting. But—there are a few that are amazing!Let’s see how it performs and lasts. For the price I would’ve expected it to come with a soft zipper case or something.
