These are light and durable. I have been using one for years and no issues. I had to buy this one because I am a tinkerer and accidently shorted a usb cable while installing something and it blew the charge port but everything else continued to work just fine. So I can install this one and repair the other for a back up. Good product.

A nice 7 port USB A powered hub . It's compact, and up to the task for USB A peripherals, eliminating annoying wire clutter.

My previous powered 10-port USB hub was able to power three external portable hard drives so I could use one as a master and the other two for alternating time machine backups. When that hub failed after 2.5 years and was no longer manufactured, I purchased this j5create 7-Port Powered USB 3.0 Data Hub. This did not work and damaged two hard drives when they disconnected during read/write operations. I contacted j5create for advice. They told me that their "powered" USB hub could only power a single external portable hard drive, which is the same capability as the laptop USB port. The extra ports provided by this USB HUB can only be used by devices that do not require much power. I fault j5create for not making this limitation clearer. I have not been able to find a replacement for my old powered USB hub and now manually switch disks for backups.

Use it on my keyboard rig (MacBook Pro is out of sight). I connect four USB MIDI + powered units as well as power other non midi devices. Small and lightweight, it hides neatly with velcro out of sight on the keyboard stand. It puts out a ample power for everything.

This hub provides enough ports to power and connect everything I need.
