THIS THING IS FAST!!!
I usually don't write reviews but for how cheap this refurb unit is the speed increase I got from using this as an access point was nearly 10x! I was getting 50 MB down and 150 MB up on my fiber internet with a wireless connection from my stock ISP router where I pay for 1GB up/down. With this hooked up as an access point I have gotten tests anywhere between 500-800 MB up/down, WIRELESS!!! That is nearly as fast as my wired connection. Granted it is in my room and with no obstructions between my device and the unit. I also used it for my Quest 2 air link connection and it worked perfectly with pretty minimal lag. Out of the box, this thing works perfectly and I am VERY impressed with it. Unless it poops out on me later this is an easy 5/5 stars. Had a little bit of trouble setting it up through tplinkwifi.net but ended up using the IP address instead and that worked fine in case someone else runs into that issue as well. Also, recommend looking up how to factory reset it and doing that before any initial setting up.

The AP is amazing, but Tether is what makes it
I have used TP Link products for the last decade and they seems to get better and better year over year. I exclusively buy them over anything else and recommend them to anyone who asks my opinion.Tether is a wonderful app that allows the controls almost to the extent of Ubiquiti or Dato. Great for first timers to managed APs

Good performance with a reasonable price
I purchased this for my nephew to use as an access point. Yes, it does have AP mode, at least in the current release firmware (early reviews indicated otherwise). 5 GHz performance was very good, near wire speed in the same room, with decent range in other rooms (my house is not at al WiFi friendly. plaster with wire lath walls), I use multiple access points, all hard wired to an edge router (also TP-Link). I find TP-Link hardware generally offers good price/performance, I have quite a few of their devices. I really dislike the modern trend of using an app to set up networking, but this isn't unique to TP-Link. I wouldn't use an internet connected app for router control under any circumstance. But their UI is OK if you just use the router IP address. Its a little tricky to get to that point, but once you have a fixed address on the unit its easy. I took off a star for the UI access, people who aren't as at ease as I am would have a difficult time navigating this without the app. In my case there wasn't much to configure since its just an access point and it has a mode for that. it's a refurb unit, came with Spanish set for the UI. A long reset fixed this, followed by a firmware upgrade. All in all I'd recommend the AX1500, especially at this price.

What a great value!
I needed to replace a very old router for the upstairs of our house. The speed of the old router was pretty slow by today's standards, and we were losing connection quickly going downstairs. I was feeling a bit of sticker shock as I looked for a wifi 6 router we could use, until I found the TP-Link. We've had it for about a month now, with no issues, and fantastic download speeds, matching the top end of what our internet service claims to give us. It has also been great for wireless use of our Oculus Quest 2.The most difficult thing for our specific installation was that we needed it to be installed as an additional router to our network. The trick to doing so turned out to be setting it to "Access Point Mode" (System -> Operation Mode). Oh, and you should plug the ethernet cable from your base system into the blue uplink slot, not one of the wlan slots (which my old router used).

Excellent Value - Nice Router (Especially For The Price)
When I installed T-Mobile 5G Home Internet to replace my former cable service, I discovered that the router that T-Mobile supplies allows almost zero customization capability for my home wi-fi network. My home network is somewhat complex, with a spectrum of different devices, the need for 2.4g and 5g connectivity, and with various other technical considerations which I won't get into here. So I needed to find an inexpensive, separate router that I could handle my requirements while fitting in seamlesslessly with T-Mobile's service. This router works exactly as expected - has all of the features I need, straightforward to set up, and, as a refurbished device at a refurbished price point, it looks just like new and offered excellent value for the money. Just provide the ethernet feed from the T-Mobile device, log in,, perform the customization, and it's good to go.
