Just a few pics and an explanation of why I chose these ones.
So as you can tell I’m not really into comics but Keith David’s voice is just too damn good to not check out the source material where he is probably most famously known from. This is a very big compendium as you can tell by the fact that it is almost the same size as video game strategy guides can go to be, and much bigger than volumes of manga will go to be.I’ve been collecting stuff for such a short time, And the only thing I have bigger than this collection, Is my Tomie by Junji Ito hard cover.

Finnaly I can get into collecting SPAWN!
I've been eyeing the comic series for a while and finally started collecting and reading Spawn. The art is amazing, great edgy 90's fun. Would definitely recommend it!

Necroplasmic delight!
Firstly, at the time of me writing this there are currently 1,666 reviews for this compendium so I’m sorry to be the guy to ruin that, cos that’s pretty cool so like, oops! Now on to the important stuff; this, whilst having its own issues is a fantastic read and not only that but an amazing throw back to simpler and more enjoyable times. Upon re-realising the time that this came out (mid 90’s) and the style of most comics at the time it blew my mind in all honesty, Todd’s art definitely helps of course as it’s timeless in my opinion plus it’s dark, gritty and detailed when everything else in the comics at the time was bright, bulging and over the top.It takes some time for the dialogue to find its feet and the story rhythms to start flowing and no Todd Mcfarlane is not the best story teller but it works, it just works and whilst a fantastic story teller he isn’t he has definitely woven together a fun and interesting universe with intriguing characters. I love Sam and twitch, I love Wanda, Terry and Cyan, even granny Blake almost as much as Al himself. A few villains are great, others passable to downright forgettable but hey ho.When certain story beats don’t hit admittedly it does knock you out of the overall narrative and this does happen a few times but then makes up for it at other times for example when Spawn is weakened after spending some time in Heaven and gets shot back to earth far away from home in Alabama and encounters a certain white hood wearing group.Overall I’d highly recommend. As a kid back in the day I only read up to issue 30 something and always wanted to come back to this universe so these compendiums are ideal and very fairly priced. The only downer as mentioned is the absence of the individual issues covers.
