Jet Engines: Fundamentals of Theory, Design and Operation

Very technical for engineers, deep analisys
I like the way the subjects are presented and developed. With the appropiate equations so you have to have a background. It is also supported by some history of the engines development which makes a perfect reference book

Good for the noobs
You're not learning thermodynamics, but for a jet engine introductory source... it's perfect. I'm able to read it like a story book, which I appreciate it. It's worth it.

Active Reader, Crash Course
Fantastic book! Switched industries and need a more solid foundation - this book did the trick. Not a light read but perfect for active readers trying to learn the basics.

Good technical introduction
This book is not a technical history. Also, it is not a deeply researched engineering text. While the discussion of the principles involved in jet engine design is highly technical, the mathematics included are elementary. There are no complex derivations of mechanical, thermodynamic, or fluid equations. There is no calculus. Complex topics are reduced down to relatively simple arithmetic statements. There are many graphs and diagrams to illustrate the principles.Who is going to buy a book like this? It will not appeal to a casual reader or aviation enthusiast looking for history combined with some discussion of principles. It will also not appeal to an aerospace engineering student looking for an exhaustive research text. This book is perhaps for working professionals in the design, operating and maintenance fields. Engine designers in industry, pilots, technicians, enthusiasts seeking more advanced knowledge will all like this book.

Worth the cost, but not written for the layman.
The good: Information dense introduction to jet engines. Written for engineers and others with a basic understanding of thermodynamics and fluid dynamics. The bad: College level text written for engineers and others with a basic understanding of thermodynamics and fluid dynamics. If your technical education consists of Popular Science and Wikipedia, buy a different book.Overall: Worth the cost.

Excellent work
Excellent work with great diagrams and just enough math to solidify the text. I read it twice (the second time was for pleasure). Now I understand how jet engines work. Many thanks to the author and publisher for a fine book!

Good pictures
Good pictures, difficult to be found on intenet and on other books. It has a simple approach to lots of engineering problems, in fact it never uses equations or mathematical descriptions, it only uses reasoning. For an appropriate learning you will need another book.

Great Book!!
This is a wonderful book for the price. It by no means will make you an aerospace engineer, but if you're wanting a more in depth knowledge of how turbines work this book will take you to that next level. Like I said, not a college level text book, but if you want to know more than "suck, squeeze, bang, blow" this book is a great place to start.
