Maybe I should do like the book says and get more familiar with Python before embarking on Pygame because for instance where it gets to the part where the guy wants me to import vector 3 or what ever and I cant figure out where to get it.

Very old style non-visual
This is a very old style book, circa 1990's. It's mostly text oriented. Meaning, it can easily become blablabla. As someone who uses python professionally, I would not start here. Start with either Teach Yourself VISUALLY Python (Teach Yourself VISUALLY (Tech)) (a great book), or, if you are programming noob then Creative Coding in Python: 30+ Programming Projects in Art, Games, and More.

Useless "Look Inside" information?
Unfortunately, the Amazon "Look Inside" pages show nothing related to game programming, only some basic Python info. What the heck does this book cover?

Good book
Many years ago, I read the first half of the first edition of this book. I wasn't ready to get into OpenGL and other subjects. I needed to learn fundamental programming. I'm nearly ready to do serious work and decided to hold onto a couple of ideas for PyGame projects. I've looked over the contents, and I'm pretty sure that everything I need to know is available. I'm not sure about the difference between the first and second editions. It's been a while. I think the book is a little bigger. And think there might be more information about rendering and using image files. That's all.
