So far so good
I've been using gels for a while on my long run. I like them over many of the other products, but they can coat your throat and stick with you sometimes giving me heartburn. These, dont do any of that and are easy to get down as you go. I've only used them on 2 of my long runs, but so far I'm sold without the issues I have with gels. I did the multi pack trying to figure out what I prefer.

Delicious fuel
Delicious and great energy boost. I’ve made a habit of going to CrossFit, putting in my all, doing a little extra strength workout then going straight to run club. It’s almost a 3 hour workout span with no fuel. I am running a marathon so I bought these as fuel. I decided to do a trial run between CrossFit and run club (a short but fast 5k). I am always sluggish and achey after CrossFit but not today! Wow was this little packet a difference maker!! I felt amazing after I took it, during the run and after the run. I even PRed. After CrossFit!!! Usually I can only PR after a rest day. Excited to train with these!! Also the lemonade tasted great!

Didn't realize the negatives of a "liquidy" goo
As far as the product offering, these were packaged and delivered perfectly. They do what they are designed and advertised to do, and the flavors are great! That said, I thought I wanted a more liquidy goo for my first IronBoy (70.3) because I had had some goos in a past marathon and remembered being a little confused by the eating while breathing process. Just a few weeks into my training I realized that you can tuck a normal goo in your cheek and breath just fine, so it was just a novice technique problem. Having refined this skill, I would now highly recommend normal goos over these because of the following observations:1. To pack enough calories in these, they need to be physically larger, which makes A) storing them on your person or on your bike a little more cumbersome and B) drinking them a 2-squeeze operation for me, rather than a 1-squeeze operation for a traditional goo. These are basically the size of your palm+fingers, whereas a traditional goo is just the size of your palm.2. I got stickier hands holding these while pumping my arms. These splash and run more than a traditional goo, which stays contained if you need to take a few strides between bites/sips, especially considering point #1.3. When these are inevitably warm during a multi-hour race, it's kind of hard to tell if it's in your mouth or not, given the liquid has minimal weight and texture in your mouth.4. They kind of spray to the back of your throat, which is annoying for the eating+breathing thing, compared to scraping a traditional goo with your teeth onto your tongue, flipping it to your cheek, and then breathing while your saliva gets working. There's probably more expert advice out there, but thought my experience might be helpful for other novices.

Hit or Miss with Flavor - NOT GEL
Having been previously unaware of energy LIQUID form GU I wrongly assumed I was buying gel. Not a big deal and no stars lost due to my error. This stuff is A LOT thinner than the gels I am used to and at first I was worried it would make an awful mess. LIke most of us in the middle of a long run, gripping a slippery plastic pouch to rip open is often more of a struggle than you plan for. This pouch opens very easy, and leaves a small, but not too small, opening to dispense the liquid. In my opinion someone nailed the packaging at GU. Well done! My first try was the cola flavor because it was an early AM run and I wanted the caffeine. It will likely be my last exploration in cola flavored products not made by Coke or Pepsi. It was bearable at best. I can't imagine reaching for this mid race or on a hot day. The other "fruity" flavors were pleasant. No issues, and I almost preferred the thinner liquid at times. As far as the nutritional content goes it's about the same as the gels. 90 calories of the most refined carbs you can find outside of a candy store. As Bob Ross would say there are no mistakes, just "happy accidents," and I can say that this was indeed a happy accident as I will likely incorporate some of the flavors in my regular running. Overall I still think I prefer the gels, but these are a nice change of pace.

i'll never go back to regular gels
i don't even mind the slightly larger size, the liquid texture hits the spot. i took one for the first time during an ultra last weekend (i know you're not supposed to experiment during a race lol) i was a little nauseated before taking it and worried it would set me off, but not at all. so nice to not have to keep squeezing and sucking gel while trying to run. it empties out of the packet right into your mouth so easily.

Packaging HURTS!
I love GU products and have been using their stuff for years. The Liquid Energy content is good but the packaging is bad. The foil pack is wider than standard GU gels and the foil cuts up your mouth. A weekend of using these was painful. They need to redesign the packaging.

Good product
I won’t lie, I didn’t read the description and thought these were the gels. They are liquid packets! Still enjoy them and will use the rest!

Good Variety
Good Variety of options with and without caffeine. I haven't used these products for a while so I wanted to test it out before using them during a race. Give it a try!
