Problem was with Samsung not customer care first
This soundbar sounded great only the one that was sent to me in the HUGE BOX was a DISPLAY MODEL and so the volume is fixed on 30 with sub all the way up and turns on by itsself which is really annoying when i have a baby. When i turn it on it says SHOP6 DISPLAY MODE and i cannot change it!! I have to get samsung to fix it which means i have to send it to samsung for a update on the software!!! to me that is Defective and annoying that i have to send it back to get something new fixed... Customer service for Customer care first was very fast and price was awesome Update: The sound bar was Samsungs fault they have these display modes and after the headache i stayed up all night researching what other customers went through I found one that helped so if you have this model turn off the soundbar unplug everything except power plug and push down the volume on the remote and power and it worked

Infuriating "Auto Power Down" function is unavoidable if you want surround sound
As of writing (FW ver 3117.3, released Apr 10, 2018), the auto power down function will turn the unit off after 5 minutes of inactivity when connected to a digital source (either TV ARC or optical), which makes this unit infuriating to use with a modern television. In theory, the TV ARC input should make it possible for the TV to control the soundbar, which works for me except for the fact that the 5 minute auto power down means that if I pause a show and walk away, then the only way to get the soundbar back on is to either use the soundbar's remote or go into the TV menu to switch back to external speakers (forcing it to send a power on message to the soundbar). Some digital sources may produce an inaudible sound to trick the speakers to stay on, but my TV definitely does not (Sony X900F).Samsung allow disabling the auto power down function on the AUX input, so it would seem the only reasonable way to use this device is to feed audio in via the AUX input (sacrificing surround sound entirely). However, if you want to take advantage of the Dolby Atmos support, then you *must* hook that source up to an HDMI input directly on the device, and the HDMI inputs have an auto power down timer of 15 minutes, so you'll have to deal with this issue. On the other hand, with only a 3.1.2 setup, you probably won't notice the lack of Dolby Atmos versus running Dolby Digital in "MOVIE" mode (which will output 3.1.2 from a 5.1 source), but to get Dolby Digital, you'll have to use either the TV ARC or optical inputs, so you are stuck with the auto power down function if you want anything but stereo sound. However, any solution other than TV ARC is going to require special handling of volume. There is a mode you can enable on the soundbar that will recognize volume up/down remote codes for most manufacturers. The downside to that is that my television pops up a notification in the center of the screen warning me that the internal speakers are disabled, blocking the view of the show I am watching. With all of that in mind, the only reasonable way for me to set this up was to use the optical output from my TV, and feed all of my HDMI sources into the TV, which avoids needing to input switch on the sound bar. To avoid the annoying popups about volume control and the auto power down, the only reasonable solution I could come up with was to get a universal remote (Harmony 650). Then, I dedicated a button to power on the speakers. It's still infuriating waiting on the speakers to turn back on, but it's less frustrating than navigating the TVs menus to enable external speakers again (if I had used TV ARC). If you really want Dolby Atmos, then you could use the remote to do input switching, but since the soundbar remote only has a "next input" remote code, you can't reliably program a universal remote to switch inputs on the soundbar, so that's why I avoid it entirely. In the end, I would love to be able to disable the "Auto Power Down" function for any input, but specifically the optical input.

Awesome sound quality
I bought this soundbar to replace a good, but not great LG I've had for about a year and a half. I'd had my eye on this one for a little while now and pulled the trigger when it went on sale. Full disclosure though, I bought this on an Amazon warehouse deal and paid about $350 for it so did I get my money's worth? Yes a thousand times over! The sound quality is on another level for a soundbar. Will this sound like a super nice surround setup? Nope, but you're dealing with a soundbar here and when compared to anything I've had in the past this is on an elite level. I'm going to break out my thoughts below for easy reading since there's a little to unpack here:1. Setup - I didn't really have a problem like some described BUT I can completely understand why someone may run into setup issues. If connecting via HDMI, connect to the ARC which is necessary for Atmos. Then you will need to connect your devices DIRECTLY to the soundbar via it's two HDMI inputs. For instance, my soundbar is connected to the TV via HDMI, and then my PS4 and Xbox One S are connected to HDMI 1 and HDMI 2 on the soundbar directly. Then, when using said device make sure you change the source to whatever you want to use. One thing to note though, I had my PC connected via HDMI to the TV with the thought that the sound would just pass through to the soundbar. It did, but it sounded very low like some have also described. Connecting via an optical cable directly to the soundbar fixed that for me. I also updated the firmware via the Android app. I did have to manually connect the sub because it wouldn't connect for some reason but once it did I haven't had any further problems out of it.2. Sound quality - In one word it's ridiculous. Its the closest I've come to having a theater in my house. My media room is relatively small with a flat ceiling so I feel like I'm engulfed in sound. Voices come through clearer than on anything I've ever had before, full home theater setups included (although low end ones). Actual Atmos 4K discs sound amazing and stand out from everything else. I primarily use the xbox for movies and the ps4 for games and my enjoyment of both has greatly increased since hooking this soundbar up. The bass on anything can shake the house if I want it to, so tune it to your own liking.3. Price - As I said before I got this at a steal for around $350 and its well, well worth that. If I remember correctly the original price was $1000 which is way to much even as good as this thing is. I'd say if you find one of these for $600 or less jump on it.All in all this is a great soundbar that I plan on keeping for years as I don't see anything outside of a full surround system getting any better.
