Detailed instructions and great tips
I just recently got the glass etching bug and this book is chock full of ideas, patterns and tips on getting the best results for your etching projects. I did some mugs for my son and his fiance and they turned out beautifully. I do not recommend the faux etching (a paint that is brushed on and allowed to dry. It doesn't have the smooth feel or the elegant look of etched glass. I recommend the Armour etching cream, and Armour kits come with some stencils and great instructions. There is one benefit of the "looks like etching" paint and that is that it is dishwasher safe...but so is the etching. I'm just sticking to the etching! Can't beat this book for beginner instructions and full sized patterns as well.

Great patterns
This is a great pattern book for glass etching. We are still learning the process, which requires an etching paste. One day we will have the process down so we can try these patterns. This was purchased at full price.

It was good for what it did give
This book almost gave full instructions, but fell short. It was good for what it did give. I would recommend it to others however, if for nothing else than to get the general idea.

Amazon Product just as described and better.
This book is great for the glass etching projects I have. I can take a huge image or bits and pieces of any image. I like the way the book will shade in reverse where I can see how my project may come out. GREAT BOOK!

Good patterns, no useful instructions
This book is full of patterns with a whole three pages of text. I was hoping to get detailed instructions on acid etching and the effects of different acids and media on the process. So far as instructions it basically tells you to read the instructions on the label of whatever etchant you use.

GREAT PATTERNS
Very pleased with the easy to use templates and patterns within this book. Author explains each of the designs and couple of ways to utilize some of them. Patterns can be copied, scanned and re-sized to accommodate most projects.

outdated
This is a Dover Press book with a 1984 copyright. The front contains about six pages of information about glass etching that is now outdated. It is possible to get free, current (better) information on the web about how to glass etch and the materials needed. I believe that the web would serve you at least as well, if not better, than purchasing this book. Following the six pages of general information, the book contains another thirty or so pages of stencil patterns. The pattern pages are only printed on one side so while the book has 60 or so pages there are are about 24 blank pages within that 60. The patterns are old school and reflect Dover's practice of using old material that has no copyright on it. The patterns include a woman with wings, grapes, a fish, a leopard, a cat, a parrot, an eagle and some art deco type geometric borders. While I sometimes enjoy Dover books and the volume of material that you get for a low price, this book was not what I needed.

I did not like the book
I did not like the book. I did not want something as large as those pictures. I was looking for something small to etch on glasses and coasters. It was not worth the money for my purposes.
