Get them while you still can
Dark Horse has done a tremendous job with their Library Edition books, but the Hellboy LE's are simply awesome. And for the price ($30 on average online) I can't imagine a collector or comic book fan not having these on his/her bookshelf. DH has also done a great job of keeping them in print, but that may not always be the case. In which case you may as well own them now, rather than when scalpers are selling these online for hundreds of dollars. That being said, the Library Edition of Hellboy carries what is essentially the first two trades in each volume. The textured hardcover is sort of difficult to keep clean if you're the type to have sweaty hands or greasy fingers, so I caution the use without keeping the books on the table or reading surface. When reading, I usually hold the book in my hands on a tee or lay on my large desk with reading lamp so I don't ruin the finish. The large oversize format (like DC's Absolute editions) is perfect for staring at the pages long after you've read the pages at hand.Buy these if you have even an inkling of interest in Hellboy. You will love these books.

Best volume to buy, if you are not a collector
If you don't aiming to collect all the Hellboy volumes, this one is the best to buy, because it have about 12 Short standalone stories and reads really well.Paper is really thick and wellprinted. book quality is fine

Even better than the first volume
The Hellboy Library Edition has been my introduction to the series. The first volume consisted of two long stories, Seed of Destruction and Wake the Devil. This volume consists of several stories, ranging widely in tone. The first, "Pancakes," is a very cute and whimsical two-pager. "The Corpse" is a short story in the most literary sense. All follow Hellboy closely, with the other characters playing minor roles, and contain tight, self-contained plots. These bite-sized chunks of comic goodness are ultimately more satisfying than the epic Nazi-Rasputin-vampire conspiracies that filled the first volume. This is an outstanding set of fables, by any standard. Those who are unfamiliar with the graphic novel genre may find this to be a superb introduction.

Hellboy has me humble
Everything and anything Hellboy is a masterpiece. One of the few things I can escape to and the world becomes a blur. Hellboy is just the thing.

very nice overall book.
when i purchased this, i knew it was a hard cover and slightly larger. but when i finally saw it (this is my first library edition) it kinda blew my mind. it is large, for a graphic novel with plenty of room for the art on the page. a bit cumbersome to hold due to the size and weight, but totally awesome in all the ways a quality book should be.

I'm won't bother reviewing the content. Hellboy is amazing and if you're ordering the library edition I'm sure you know that already. This edition is gorgeous. A beautiful addition to anyone's comic library.

Excellent Read
I love the variety in this book. While longer, more epic stories of his can be fun, the short stories really expand the world for the reader. The varied folklore it draws from just makes it feel so much more "real". Great for fans of Hellboy, gothic literature, adventure, folklore, and those with a pulse.

Hellboy? Hell yes please!
I like reading comics in their oversized format. There’s a real appreciation for the art gained in reading theses library additions.
