RS280S - Happy Surfer
Got the new router connected w/o issue. Very happy with its operation and its wired network options are good also, with LAN aggregation available on the 1 Gbps ports as well as the WAN aggregation using the 2.5Gbps LAN port #4.From what I could read, this model is almost identical to the RS300 at a 1/3 lower price. Also allows you to connect a USB HDD to the router & use it as a Network Storage device (although I have not checked this feature out yet). There is even a button to turn off all the lights except the power light so you don't have blinking going on all the time. All the antennas are internal so there aren't those sticking out everywhere & since it is more vertically oriented, the footprint is not so huge like my old router. Originally had it installed close to floor, but recently got a shelf put up to get it about 5' off the floor for better WiFi. It comes with a one year subscription to Netgear's protection software, protecting all connected devices. Granted, if you want to renew that next year, there is a cost. And with WiFi 7 pre-installed, looking forward to this one meeting my needs for quite a while. There was one issue I ran into, when updating the firmware, something went amiss & I needed to call tech support to inquire how best to proceed, a google search of the phone number on my cell phone lead me to what APPEARED to be Netgear but was instead a authorized reseller who wanted to charge me an astronomical price for support. I realized my error & hung up & searched for Netgear's actual # & got everything set up fine (at no additional charge). If you do need tech support, MAKE SURE you are connected to the actual manufacturer & not the one that appears to be them in a Google search.

Buy it you will not be disappointed
The router is fast, upgrading from a Netgear R7500 night hawk, wow what a difference. I have a 1 gig service from Midco and I am getting consistent 600+ meg throughout my home (2 story 2800sf). The router has great range and auto selects the right connection speed for every device connected accurately. It allows you to use your previous network name and password so none of your devices need to be registered to the router, just turn it on and everything works. The setup process was relatively easy.

install failed... to complicated for me.
(I only rate 1,3,5 stars) RS280 B9200...may9.2025 ....I really wanted this to work and struggle for 5 man hours over two days....after reading the customer reviews i was concerned about possible install issues... but yet they seemed few... well I got one... I was unable to install... I called custmer support and got a warm body but we were not able to work it out...returning it and looking for the next best thing... likely its my lack of computer-ease that is the real issue.... I expected plug and play and this is a bit more involved... too much for me. I dont want layers of software management... also NG seems to be pushing this Armor security stuff... dont want dont need.FU two weeks later.. still cant find a dependable router ... all reviews for asus and net gear have a significant number of unfavorable reviews with the same issues (likely many others dont report)... 2.4g is dropping or otherwise dysfunctional... either out of the box or 6 months to a year later... this is what I experience on my current R7000..(.one review proffered the theory that overlapping local nets (nearby homes or apartments cause this)....I am now looking at TP's

Easy set up
Set up was easy through the app. It just took time letting the app and router go through the set up. Walls do interfere with the signal, but it reached the intended targets. I do have a full year of armor protection that came with the router. Also, this is a router, not a modem router. Hope this helps.

Just right for my home network.
My old router did "20+" devices which was fine until we had 19 devices (mostly smart bulbs in the lights). This new router works just fine after its set up. I don't like the phone app and sometimes randomly it doesn't broadcast the SSID for a minute or two out of the blue, but once your connected you got no more issues. I don't have wifi7 but if I get a device that can use it, at least it's already there...-Stable after set up-Doesn't look like a spaceship (that's good)-Should work with future equipment

Wifi 7? Frustrating set up.
Rs280 not rs280s and there no wi-fi 7 options only 6e,5g,2.4g router, set up was frustrating but router has strong Wi-Fi. Good security. Too bad uI cheaply done. No IoT network or mlo option simple app. armor support no good. lacks dns dot tls doh rebind protection. No scheduled reboot. My five year old router has more options than this router. Too many paid subscriptions. Has 2.5 gigabyte lan that comes with a cat 5E patch cable which can only do 1 gigabyte transfer and there is no qos setting

Fast WiFi for fiber users
I was impressed by how fast the speeds were. With WiFi 7 I was able to get near gig wireless speeds (1GB fiber source) up and down on a WiFi 7 compatible phone and computer. All my old devices worked fine as it was backward compatible and I haven’t had any issues after setting this up. The wizard was helpful and seems more intuitive (device, app, security, etc) than other WiFi routers I’ve used. Nice upgrade from my D Link WiFi 6 router that seemed to be flaking.

Not a great first impression
Netgear Nighthawk RS280S (9200). The initial setup was a bit challenging. In the end, I could not use the Nighthawk app to configure the router. I used a computer directly connected to the wifi router to configure using the web interface (192.168.1.1). There are "buggy" inconsistencies between the web interface and the Nighthawk app. The device information is not consistent between the two interfaces. They don't appear to be affecting performance but they are frustrating and prevent some functionality.
