Great kit! My son loves this robot. It was easy to build and he loves to interact with it. It is very loud. fair warning.

My son enjoyed building this robot. The instructions were fairly easy to follow, he didn't get frustrated to the point of quitting which tells me that the pieces came together without too much struggle and the instructions can be followed by an 11 year old. My son often gets frustrated and then quits building but he finished this one without help. We were not able to connect with the app, but I'm thinking that might be a good thing since so many reviews stated that the apps requires a broad permission. The robot works without the app, so no worries about not being able to use it. My son had a great time with it until some of the pieces started fall apart. I would recommend gluing the robot together if you are going to be driving it around a lot. Overall, this is a pretty good build. I would just be careful of the app, I would recommend not connecting to it.

The kit has three ways you can build the robot, a snail-looking robot, a bulldozer robot, and a robot that stands. I built the bulldozer, and it came out super nice! Would recommend!

My kiddo loves stem items and he had a blast with this. The kit provided hours of entertainment and he still uses it from time to time.The instructions were good and the parts are tiny. It is good for him to practice organization and following instructions.Overall this is a good introduction to more advanced STEM items for growing kiddos.

The building set aspects of this are fairly good - the pieces themselves are Mechanical Master brand and their only flaws are that some of the pins are tougher to insert than their name brand equivalent, but they are far from the worst pins I've build with. I especially love the designs incorporated into their panels, which lend extra visual interest if you choose to omit the stickers.The instructions are well-sized have a stapled binding so they don't flip themselves closed while building. They are easy enough to follow, despite some weird quirks. Step numbers appear below the parts inventory boxes, and most pages look as though one too many steps have been squeezed into the layout. The bags of pieces are very well organized, however, so the build actually went very smoothly (minus one positioning mistake on my part that I had to tear down half the build to correct).The stickers are OK, but a little bit disappointing. They are printed on transparent material with adhesive that is forgiving of repositioning, both excellent choices. Strangely, however, the only stickers that take advantage of the transparent material are the two that go on the transparent pieces. The others have printed solid-color backgrounds, and except for the white ones, their colors are very poorly matched to the pieces.Function of the power elements is a mixed bag. The eyes do their thing and look pretty cool, but the sound effects are very loud and there is no volume control. I almost rated this three stars until I discovered the extremely tiny unlabeled mute button near the power switch (which is also quite small). If you also have trouble finding it, the "sound power button" location is labeled on the diagram on the instructions' inside cover. I will still need to turn the sound on occasionally because my dog is completely fascinated by it.Operation with the included remote works just fine, but I am disappointed that I have been unable to connect using the app. It's not super great that the app comes via an unsecure website rather than a known app store, and it gets a bit sketchier when it asks for unusually broad permissions. If you really want to try the app, it might be best to use an older device that doesn't contain personal information. All of the control and programming features appear to be there. The programming looks especially intriguing to me, since it includes a ton of options beyond the basic controller.Overall, I like this set a lot better since I found the mute button and the app has great potential if you're able to get it to work.
