Live Free in the World of the Undead
This product comes with 2 Blu Ray discs, containing 12 episodes. Available in dubbed and subbed. Subbed in English.I recommend to any anime consumer to purchase a physical copy of any and all anime franchises you enjoy. All western anime distributors deal with limited-licensing issues which makes future access to any one particular anime via digital media, problematic. Our corporate drone protagonist has had the life snuffed out of him by ceaseless demands of work culture. From losing precious sleep, to the loss of his office girl crush, there isn’t much that keeps our hero going. That is until, things stop going in the modern world. The undead walk the Earth and society has met its end. What does our protagonist do? Laugh and enjoy the freedom that comes with a life no longer regulated by an uncaring society. Knowing life is a lot shorter than it used to be, our hero—alongside some good company, embraces the adventures their young selves had to put away in service of mundane careers. How long will any of them will last in the land of the dead is anyone’s guess. But they are going to have some fun before the inevitable end.The studio stuck with 2D animation! Love that! It is censored. There has not been a good zombie apocalypse anime since ‘Highschool of Dead’ that was released back in 2010. Zom is much tamer in comparison to its predecessor; namely the lack of fanservice of female characters, the fettered violence, and the ‘tomato sauce’ everywhere being painted with neon colors. But surprisingly, the lack of those aspects did not stop me from enjoying this anime.Who’s not going to enjoy our heroes being chased by a zombie shark with legs? I was laughing hard at the comedy in this show. How absurd and hilarious.I hope there is a second season because this was fun!

Good show, bad release from Viz Media (as usual)
This is for anyone who cares about the actual quality of the product rather than a review of the show itself. The Blu-ray release here follows Viz Media's usual trend of being low quality.First of all, the positives. It has lossless audio, sometimes looks competent and is presented correctly with correct colors/gamma levels (It's 50/50 whether Viz get this right!). Now with that out of the way, like their other discs this overall looks noticeably worse than the Crunchyroll web streams due to the amount of banding, blocking and just all around bad compression that also leads to it looking distractingly noisy in motion. Complex or fast moving scenes especially fall apart and exhibit compression issues that I would expect from a DVD release. What makes this even worse is that we are provided two 50gb discs, with disc 1 using little over 24gb for 6 episodes, and disc 2 around 33gb for 7 episodes and extras. In the worst case scenario, we have episodes that use little more than half the additional bitrate of Crunchyroll's web streams. If I'm being honest though, I don't think using the full amount of space would've helped solve the problematic encoding on this release as other titles that use more bitrate also have major issues. Additionally some of the extras like the Japanese Promotional videos and the Creditless Ending are presented at the wrong framerate, leading to constant judder. The Japanese Promotional Videos and Director interview also have burned in subtitles.Whilst nowhere near as disastrous as other Viz Media releases like Jujutsu Kaisen, To Your Eternity In/Spectre or Tower of God which are truly disastrous 1* do not buy products, I cannot recommend this release. The only real plus side here is the lossless audio, as it doesn't even have the advantage of the dimming from the broadcast version being removed. Much like other Viz Media releases, if you have any interest in this show, you'll have a much better experience just subscribing to Crunchyroll for a month and watching it there.
