My husband loves this. He reaches for it every time I ask for him to do DIY. It’s well built, accurate and good for the price - would recommend

Solid for home use. Wouldn't last too long on a site

The included tripod is quite basic but functional, depending on your height needs. It doesn’t extend very high, so you might need to stack it if you’re aiming to hang something, which somewhat defeats its purpose. However, it’s well-made, folds into a compact, lightweight package, and is user-friendly.It does come with a small bubble level, but since the laser is self-leveling, the level isn’t particularly necessary. On the plus side, the green laser is very clear and bright, with no visibility issues, and it includes the required 2 AA batteries. While the setup is a bit basic, it offers self-leveling and the ability to lock lines in place, and it seems accurate, which is the most important factor.

A good enough laser level for basic DIY tasks

I've had a laser level for years now and would definitely recommend one to most home DIYers, even if that is just for putting up picture frames. I've split my review into both tripod/level as you can buy them separately.Tripod:The included tripod is pretty basic but does the job, depending on how tall you need the lines to be. It doesn't go too high so you'll probably need to stack in on top of something if you want to hang a picture which does defeat the point a little. However it does seem well made, folds down to a lightweight compact package and is easy enough to use. It does come with a little bubble level on but the laser should self level itself so it's not particularly useful. To be honest I'm not sure I'd pay the extra ÂŁ20 for this specific tripod, any standard screw type tripod will be compatible so I'd personally look for something a bit taller.Laser:I've got a more expensive laser level in my toolbag and I did notice this one does feel a bit cheap in comparison, despite there not being a great deal of cost difference between the two. I'm not sure I'd say this one feels built to last and certainly wouldn't manage being thrown around on a job site but if you're only using it occasionally it should suffice. The green laser on this is at least very clear and bright so no visibility problems and comes with the 2 AA batteries required. It's easy enough to use, although a little basic, it allows self levelling and the ability to lock those lines in place. It does seem accurate which is the main thing!

Excellent little laser, works really well...

I reviewed the actual laser-only option previously, which is shown lower down the page*. First, I'll just comment on the included tripod, as part of the package...Tripod:The price difference between the 2 options is ÂŁ20, which is solely down to the included tripod. If you haven't already got one that you can use (with a standard 1/4" thread), then this one should do fine. It's pretty much a plastic/lightweight affair, but sturdy enough to do its' job of keeping the level free from (most) vibrations. The height isn't as great as a full-size camera tripod, but does include full pan/tilt adjustment. The level can only be attached to the tripod by using the quick-release plate, so for most of the time you'll have to keep the plate attached to the level. It 'just' about fits into the little zip-up case with it on.One little niggle however, is that if you take the level off the stand to place on a table/shelf etc, you will hae to remove the plate. The reason is that the securing screw underneath the plate protrudes from the bottom a little, so if you leave the plate in situ the whole thing won't sit flat on the surface. It could do with one of those butterfly swing-nuts that close up after tightening. That would eliminate the problem instantly, making the 'quick-release' feature of the tripd far more useful. It's still a decent little tripod however, and comes in its' own nylon carry bag.*The laser unit itself:This is an excellent little cross laser. The green lines are bright, clear, and give a really good coverage both vertically and horizontally.I've had simple cross-lasers before, and while they've all basically worked OK, most have had limited left/right/up/down guideline length. With this Firecore, you could easily make ceiling markings... from one end of the room, then from the other... and cover the whole area.It comes in its' own compact zip-up case, and for a no bells/whistles level, it's a smashing little unit. Can't really fault it at all, and the fact it's so compact (and protected in a case) should mean this is always to hand in your toolkit, where anything bigger/fancier could easily be a 'forgot to put in' tool.Good stuff, and on a quality/value-for-money basis... 5-Stars.

Awful

So either every line in my house is off or this laser level is. Firstly it arrived in a well packaged state with the laser being in a nice pouch and the tripod being wrapped in it's own bag. The tripod is well made, light weight and collapsible. Then you get to the laser, I had no instructions included in the box so had to refer to the item page on Amazon. I doubt know if they were translated or what but following them doesn't really help. You should be able to unlock the laser for self levelling and then once it's level ( mine never became level) you should be able to lock it in place. When I try to lock my already off level level it gets even worse. I doubt know how they expect you to lock it level when you have to manhandle the unit to lock it and this causes the laser to jump around all over the place. Whilst the laser is nice and bright and the brightness can be adjusted by the button as per the instructions, this send to be the only thing that is working as it should. Very poor item but maybe I've just got a bad one

Good value at current discounted price. Good brightness for battery power!

This is a rather lightweight and portable laser level, with a removable tripod. It's powered by 2xAA batteries, meaning it's quick and easy to change them out, although no rechargable option is a shame. The tripod is good quality, and the output on the laser is pretty strong. Level seems accurate, and the self-levelling is great. Recommended.
