Good for plug and play

For ease of use this is a great wired controller for gaming on the Xbox or PC. It has amazing rumble, solid ergonomics, 2 back buttons and an audio jack. This is essentially a pro controller with guess what - hall effect sticks. If you just want a plug and play experience and prefer a symmetric stick layout then I would recommend this controller.

Great Windows Gaming PC controller for the price!

This is a great controller to use on a Windows PC. It feels like a throwback to a PS3 controller, but it's a bit more comfortable. The D-pad and buttons feel great, as do the hall effect thumb sticks. Time will tell how long the thumb sticks hold up, but having hall effect sensors on them should help prevent stick drift over the long haul. It's wired so you'll need a free USB port to use it, but they give you a very long cable with it. It works well and I'm happy with the purchase.

Great price/quality level

Bought this to replace a burnt out logitech controller. Buttons all feel great. Sticks are a tad small and slippery, not great for driving games. Unsure about the P1/P2 button placements. Great for GBA emulation. High quality for the price paid.

Decent 2D Pad for Xbox and a good alternative PC controller

(Edited cause 8bitdo still hasn't fixed their Dpads)If you already have an 8bitdo controller this one not that different so not much has changed other than its look and it not being wireless. That said, if you are looking for a controller to use for your Xbox but dislike the placement of the Dpad of the original Xbox controllers and/or play alot of games that heavily use the Dpad without the compromise of losing the form factor of a modern controller, then this is for you. On Xbox the controller performs as expected and with the 8bitdo app I was able to make the controller more comfortable adding the thumb stick clicks to the back buttons. My only complaint comes from using this on PC and that's because it's read as an Xbox One controller instead of a Xbox Series controller which has the screenshot button. That might not sound like a big deal but I'm one of those guys that likes to take screenshots when playing games and has gotten used to just pressing a button to do so (since I primarily use steam). Since I have an Xbox Series controller already, it really makes this one use case situation instead of a replacement. Using the 8bitdo controller when I play steam games I usually either have a keyboard on my lap as I play a game or I have to use big picture mode which isn't ideal since it's a combination you have to input to do a screenshot. I know this all sounds petty but it sort of boggles my mind as to why on the Xbox the screenshot button semi works but on PC it's nonexistent (the doesn't even show up on the Xbox app). I feel like an update could easily fix this like how 8bitdo addressed the triggers taking a bit more pressure than usual to activate but I've updated this controller to the latest versions and nothings changed in the regard. So if you plan to use this primarily on Xbox consoles, this isn't a bad option. If you plan to use this for PC gaming just know it's only recognized as a Xbox One controller and the screenshot button serves no purpose. One thing I'd like to add that isn't completely related, if you do order an 8Bitdo controller always put the dpad through its paces cause the quality control can vary wildly. I own numerous of their controllers and 2 out of 5 of them had a borked dpad so YMMV. Also I hope the next 8bitdo controller is of a more original design as in not just a Snes controller but with analogues and grips. It's fine to keep the layout the same but you don't need to keep using the same SNES Dpad on every controller you make. The Dpad on the M30 is imo their best dpad and wouldn’t mind a version of that controller similar to the Pro line of controllers. The dpad on the Gameboy styled controller and on thier Switch Lite mini controllers are fine too, wouldn't mind seeing more controllers use that style either but I digress. I hope when 8bitdo does another controller it has more originality (the colors on the grey pro 2+ was a good step) to it/has more of a reason to exist if that makes sense and I'd really appreciate an update to this controller that registers it as a Xbox Series controller instead of the Xbox One controller on PC.I don't know what it is but 8bitdo really need better QA or they need to change up how they manufacture their dpads cause it's very frustrating to spend $50 on a controller and the main reason you buy these controllers is highly dependent on whether or not you get a good batch or not (supposedly). Granted this is probably the most responsive dpad out of all the 8bitdo controllers I have but at this point the dapd should not be an issue anymore.

I suspected the XBOX branding might indicate this was crap. I was right.

If you're hoping that this will be the same great controller that the non-XBOX Pro 2 Wired is, you're in for some disappointment; as was I.First of all, there is no way to plug this controller in as Direct Input (as opposed to X-Input). Normally a button is held down while plugging in a controller to achieve this. Not an option with this controller. It can however be placed in 'Switch-mode' by holding down the Y button while being plugged in. At least, I think that's what it's doing. So if it has a 'Switch-mode', why not let us hold a different button for Direct Input? There is also no convenient way to set a button to turbo. They claim this can be done in their software, but that's a hassle, and their software is crap anyway. Having found their software to useless every other time I tried using it, I didn't even bother to check. I mean, it doesn't even allow us to bind a keyboard key to a button. If all that weren't enough, there's currently no way to update the controller's firmware, which could've been used to address the above concerns, should 8bitDo wish to. Neither of the two applications made available by 8bitDo can even detect that the controller is connected, let alone update it.As far as I can tell, it does function as an XBOX controller should, in the most superficial sense. Though I believe that even an official XBOX controller can be plugged in to a PC as a Direct Input controller (again, as opposed to X-Input).The controller has 8bitDo's usual high-quality feel to it, but those missing features are just inexcusable. If all you plan to use this controller for is XBOX stuff, then it's probably fine. Though do keep in mind that 8bitDo's usual method of toggling a button to turbo-mode is missing from this controller.I'll be keeping it only to de-solder the hall effect sticks and mod them into the vastly superior (normal) Pro 2 Wired Controller. As, inexplicably, that model is the only 'stick-ed' controller that 8bitDo DOESN'T offer with the option of hall effect sensors.
