This gauge is easy to read because the holder has a blue background built into the holder. This is a nice size - large enough to see easily. The top edge of the vessel is tapered to a fine edge at the top. I think that makes what it collects more representative of the amount of rain that actually fell. The rod and spiked end going into the ground worked OK. But I did not like bending over to pick up / read the gauge. So, I attached the holder to a wooden post. The holder has a slotted hole for a screw to make doing that very simple.

I give this a guarded five stars because it has worked great for the first couple of months. I'll update this review if something changes. The unit easily installed and the directions were clear enough to get it working. The indoor unit is light and readable and the outdoor unit connected quickly to the indoor panel. There's a bit of a learning curve on what mode works best for you. I keep the unit on the 24 hour mode to show me rain during the past 24. The atomic clock sync'ed easily.

This is a nice rain gauge as it’s wide enough for accurate collection and reading. I like the idea of the blue background getting magnified to help read the gauge, but I find it really only works when at eye level. However, the gauge sits about 4’ off the ground, and I’m 6’. I’m hoping the tube stays clear for a few years, but time will tell.

Why did you pick this product vs others?:Excellent quality. Very sturdy. The numbers and lines can be seen from a good distance away. This is the best rain gauge I have ever owned. Great value and great value for the price.

I purchased 2 of these; one for myself and one for a friend. I like that this plastic rain gauge fits inside a holder, can be easily removed in order to empty the rainwater, and it stakes into the ground. It also has a hole on the iron holder if you want to hang it on a wall. The markings are easy to read and container is clear and concise. It's perfect for measuring our recent rains!

When I originally bought my decorative wrought iron rain gauge it had a glass collecting tube, which was fragile and inevitably broke. It is only by looking on Amazon that I discovered there is a sort of standard size, and there are both plastic replacement tubes and glass. This time I bought a plastic one -- with nice big lettering -- and it fits the stand perfectly and looks great. And I'm hoping it will be a lot more durable. The cleaning tool is nice, too, as I know from experience scum tends to collect at the bottom of the tube due to the presence of water from dew, etc.

Love this rain gauge! The blue strip really makes it easier to read the amount of rain in the gauge. Just be sure to put it in the open away from any obstacles that would prevent the rain from getting in it.

Nice very clear plastic for rain amounts. Will it stay clear? Can be put in ground anywhere or hung on wall only drawback if wall hung, the top is out about 1/2” and nothing to hold bottom out same 1/2” so it’s tipped unless you put something under bottom 1/2” thick.
