Winner winner, get your knives as sharp as possible...
I wish I had found this years ago so I wouldn't have had to spend a lot of time with sharpening stones (oil or water). Like most skills that other make look easy, you have to get your blade angle correct. Once you determine the proper angle, it is just a turn of the adjustment knob to set it. Then, you clamp your knife into the holder that is then inserted into the base stand and held by strong magnets. Choose your preferred grit from those in the kit and get to it! Remember, go lightly since you are using diamond and/or ceramics here.I suggest practicing on some older, less valuable knives until you get the feel of the equipment. Then, take you time and follow the instructions. Also, check out the online videos where others demonstrate using it on different kinds of knives. Another hint, make sure to keep track of the number of passes you make on your first side so you can do the same on the other side. You must perform the same number of passes to keep the blade in true form. You may have to move the clamp down the blade when you are sharpening longer knives like those from the kitchen. Take your time and be consistent. Always finish off the knife by stropping it on a good leather strop to get the burrs off the edge. Go easy and be patient as you do NOT want to muscle it.

After a little practice, I got the sharpest edge I've ever seen!
I've had this system for about a week. I finally had some time to sit down and set ot up. It's extremely easy to setup, and has a great little case that everything fits neatly into. I glanced at the instructions, watched a fee YouTube videos, and got to work on a cheaper knife I've been trying to sharpen by hand for days to no avail. This knife wouldn't cut paper and was giving me a headache from trying to sharpen by hand. I started on the courses grit and finally got a burr after about 20 minutes. It was starting to give me another headache, but I kept at it. It takes a little time to figure out the technique and proper form. But, once you get it, it's amazing. I worked through every grit, and the strop. The edge almost had a mirror polish after my first attempt. It was getting late so I started rushing through some of the stones once I got the hang of it, or it would've had a real mirror polish. It is by far the sharpest knife I've ever held or sharpened. Blows away every factory edge ive ever felt, all 38.I have a few other systems, much cheaper, and not diamond stones either. One is more for touching up your edge. I have tried free hand sharpening quite a few time, and every time have ended up with a more dull knife than when I started (I'm still not giving up). It's very refreshing to know I can put a razor-sharp edge on any of my knives now. This system has everything you need and is easy to use. You get great results, and the price is very reasonable considering the costs of other fixed angle sharpeners. The build quality is great, the clamp hold the blade secure. The only thing I can recommend is a digital angle finder, got one for $25. Also, at first feel the stones didn't slide very smooth on the guide rod. So I put two drops of gun oil on the plastic where the rod touches and that greatly improved the feel when sliding the stones back and forth on the edge. Lastly wipe the blade between grits, and get an old toothbrush to clean the metal out of the stones to prevent cross contamination between grits. Also, I highly recommend watching some of work sharps YouTube videos and reading the comment section, thats where i heard about the oil and cross contamination. There are different techniques that can yield different results, work sharp has video on that.Overall for the price I'd go with the elite version, but I'm sure the basic would work great, except when it comes to the mirror polish.and final look. I'm am blown away and extremely happy to have a system that not only works, but works great!!

Great Wonderful Sharpener.
Pros: Great Customer Support. Easy to use. It really will give you a razor sharp edge. Easy to clean. With some zip tie modifications the design is solid and strong and won't let you down while sharpening. I love this sharpener and wish I had the money to buy the $250 Pro Sharpener or the $400 Pro with Carry Case. You can buy this elite for $60 and if you decide you want the carry-case for $80 later on, you can upgrade like I did, plus you get more stones for a mirror polish when you upgrade. The clamp holds on to a 3mm blade thickness or smaller with almost perfection. You tighten it down and I get almost no wiggle, no movement, no sliding, nothing. So I'm happy about that. Perfection!!!Cons: It's modular which is amazing but they don't sell optional attachments so what's the point of being modular?!? I guess I can make my own upgrades??? The KNIFE CLAMP on the ELITE model (the smaller model) is great at tightening and holding on to a 3.5mm or smaller thickness blade at the spine. They claim it can hold up to 4.7mm but it will wobble like crazy. So basically this is great for neck-knives and most folding knives. It is NOT GREAT at holding my Fixed Blade Hunting or Camping knives at all. Even if I manage to get them in the clamp and tighten it, the knife has way too much wiggle. I guess they want us to buy the $250 Pro model or $400 with all the bells and whistles to be able to clamp on and HOLD a thicker blade?Since it's modular, why not sell us a Clamp Piece separately, that is specifically made to hold thicker knives. I'd buy it.

I am very happy with it.
Wow! This is a great knife sharpener. I sharpened all of my EDC folding pocket knives. They are perfectly sharp. I am terrible at free hand sharpening. This makes sharpening easy. This system is not the portable kind that you put in your pocket and take with you. It is one that you would keep in a cabinet or on a work bench in you shop. I haven't tried to sharpen my kitchen knives yet. I am confident that it will be just as good as the pocket knives. Be careful to read the instructions and watch some YouTube videos on how to use the sharpener. It is not hard to sharpen a knife with it. It does require a process to get it right. The machine is rather durable but could be broken if misused. I am very happy with it.
