Although my 8 year old is very comfortable with Scratch, he needs ideas to get him going on a project. He loves playing Scratch-based platform games. This book is great for him (and would also be great for those new to Scratch).I was expecting the whole book to create one game, but it's way better structured than that - 8 different themed games, each progressively harder than the previous. Obviously, they're all nearly identical (given it's all about platform games), but the totally different graphics make them feel like different games, and way more engaging to come back to the next day.

My daughter was interested in learning coding so I bought her this book. She made a few games and her and her brother had fun playing the games. She then started tweaking the code and playing around with different stuff and had hours of fun learning what she could do and how.

Bought for my 9 year old as an introduction to Scratch. She was able to get going independently and absolutely loves seeing the results of what she’s done. Starts with really simple programs to get some quick wins and keep up motivation. Great book :)

Bought for my 9 yr old, who uses scratch a lot, and was worried it would be beneath his knowledge level.However he really liked it and has learned some new code that he uses in his own games as well as the examples in the book.He was able to follow it without any help (just as well as I know nothing about scratch).He says he would recommend it, so so will I

I dont normally review purchases but this is brilliant. My 9 year old uses it independently and it has taught him so much. Really clear instructions and a new skill with every lesson. It's his absolute favourite birthday present

We got this for home educating my son on coding and only because we got the authors other book on how to code Platformer Games. Honestly these books are just brilliant. Buy one and you’ll understand how to code with the other anyway because the code is identical in parts. That’s the beauty of stuff like this; once you’re shown how to turn something 90 degrees and move it forward ten spaces; it doesn’t matter whether it’s a person, object or vehicle… so once you know the code for turning a character you know how to turn a car technically. Honestly this is just brilliant.

Got this for my Scratch keen 8 year old. He loves it and has successfully built several games with no help. The instructions are really clear and easy to follow. Definitely recommend this.
