Buy em and try em out!
Looked at a few options, ultimately chose these and I’m glad I did!Easy use on the app, and love the ability to create schedules—mine slowly dim ON in the morning to wake me up. The app is pretty cool when you get multiple bulbs, you can control by rooms or groups! Or individual of course. Lots of color options.

Cync is my favorite smart-bulb company!
An app is required. Super easy to set up, the colors and brightness are perfect, and Cync's customer service is amazing.

Essential kaleidoscope for the hearth
Smart bulbs are good for three things: Security, entertainment and comfort. Security because one can remotely turn on lights which can deter agents of the night. Entertainment because one can select a color to frame the mood including party flashing lights or subtle romantic ambiances. Comfort because the color and intensity of light can enhance the environment.I had always wanted them, and had my sights on the Phillips Hue smart bulb. When it comes to electronics, I've learned the hard way to only go with brands that I trust and recognize. The Phillips brand is a well known one, but the bulb was way too expensive. There are much cheaper bulbs but they are from obscure brands. And then I saw these. GE is a household name and these bulbs are far cheaper than the Phillips. When they arrived I followed the instructions, inserted the bulbs into their receptacles, turned them on and added them using the proprietary Cync app which I easily found and downloaded to my Android phone. I then added the two bulbs to the Google Home app on my phone. Now, turning on my home office light for example is as simple as commanding my Google Assistant to do so verbally. This answered the one question that I needed clarity on: whether I needed any hardware other than my phone to operate these bulbs. I do not.It has all the colors on the spectrum, and can imitate settings like the flickering of a candle or sunset. The light can be dimmed or enhanced in intensity. These are also rated to last 15 times longer than regular bulbs. The software could be better, and hence the reason for docking this review one point. The app doesn't always connect immediately and can get hung up. But it always eventually resolves itself. Also, it only seems to work with Google Home when I am within my home's WIFI range. But I can control the bulbs wirelessly from anywhere in the world including at home with the Cync app. Hence, I use either app to control the bulbs, depending on where I am. I am happy with the purchase.N.B. I bought both the A19 and the A21 models. The A19 model is the basic house bulb, rated at 60 watts. It worked in every receptacle I installed it in the house. The A20 is a slightly but noticeably larger bulb, both in height and diameter, rated for 100 watts. It is more selective, and would not work for my front porch. It is also significantly brighter than the A19. It's now my habit to turn on the family room light remotely if I am not home, so that my dog does not have to sit in the dark.

Easiest smart bulb I've ever installed. I've tried many.
Instantly connected to smarthings and worked straight away. Nice and bright, with smooth dimming. Colors are fun, and subtle changes possible.I love Matter.

My fav purchase thus far!
I rave about these lights to anyone who will listen! I purchased the one originally in Giant grocery store, and loved it so much that I ordered two more for my room! Will likely add for bathroom as well. They don’t take up a lot of electric, compatible with Alexa (huge plus), and also manageable within the Cync app. You can customize your shades, and save your favorites. MY FAVORTIE PART - the white light is a regular white light bulb look. That was important to me because I hate when it looks dim or off, but you can also change the brightness up/down.

Turn lights on/off with voice.
Doesn't need a hub unlike phillips. Easy to set up and use.

Not so smart…
Smart lights that are not so smart. I assume that depending on the assistant the experience may vary, but I wish it worked better with Siri, it doesn’t. The good thing is that you can add them in your home app and control them, the bed news is every time you turn the switch off they’ll basically reset and turn up with poor brightness and if you don’t have your phone with you or are far away (unable to speak to Siri, Alexa or Google) there’s no way around it. Sad…

Fun and practical
App works great, it's got a lot of features and templates and the grouping is very handy too, plus custom light shows you can make yourself. The apps scheduling is very unreliable though- I use Amazon home for that and it is much more consistent.A minor inconvenience is that these don't check the schedule when they're turned on, they only receive the schedule changes if they're powered during the change. For instance, if I set it to green at 5pm then change to blue at 6pm- turning the switch off at 5:30 and on at 6:30 it will light up green. If I leave the switch on, it changes to blue at 6pm as scheduled. I just set them to turn on and off when I want them to and leave the switch on all the time.
