Reading Guide Highlighter Strips Wide (Colored Overlays/Tinted Overlays) Set of 6 Colors with Storage Case (InPrimeTime Exclusive)

My 10 year old has dyslexia at the suggestion of a teacher I got these for her to use at school. I was rather skeptical that "colors" would help, so I did not tell her what they were supposed to do, just how to use them. Then I ask her if she could see a difference - and she could but said only with certain colors. Exactly as the teacher had said. She has been using them at school for 3 months, she says that yellow works for her most of the time, but sometimes it does not and she has to use a new color for a few days. I have noticed a marked improvement in her willingness to read. These do not make things a 100% better for her, but even a 50% improvement is an improvement! I ask her why I did not see her using them at home and she said because she left them at school so she didn't lose them/forget to take them. That made a lot of sense, so I am buying a second set for home use.On a side note, I also bought the very expensive named brand full notebook paper sized overlays. She said she does not use them because to put them over a test or worksheet means you cannot write on the test or worksheet.....I had not thought about that so now I will try to modify those in size to cover the math problem, but still have room to write the answer.

I love these highlighter strips and so do my students -- especially my Dyslexic students. As a 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade Reading Teacher, I tend to notice signs of dyslexia or other reading deficiencies at the beginning of the year during my evaluation of my students. Most of the time, a highlighter strip can solve the reading deficiency and my student is able to see the words on the page in clear, straight lines. I allow my students to experiment with each color while reading to get the right fit. All of my students have found the color that fits them and they stick with it for the entire school year.While these were pricey at almost $11 for a set of 7, I am very satisfied with the impact it has had on my students. These strips are very durable and have made it through a year of 3rd graders using them in reading. I would definitely buy this product again.

I ordered these for my son who has dyslexia. I do think these work for some. However, he didn't think he saw the letters and words any differently with these. So, it didn't work for him but that doesn't mean these won't work for others. So I will base this review on the quality of the product. These are thick but not so thick they wont bend to go over pages and not so thin they easily break. I think these would be easier to read with versus the bigger sizes. I will give them to a teacher at his school. Maybe they will help someone else.

I give the product 5 stars. I was looking for something that had a case to use for containing the reading guides. That’s one reason that I bought these. Love the strips! HATE the case!! It is so cheap that it will break if I take them anywhere in my book bag! The case is almost as important as the strips.

Purchased for a little girl having reading issues. She's improving greatly!

My daughter was having a hard time reading. Her dad is dyslexic and mentioned that this sort of thing helped him. When I ordered them, we were aiming for the sky --hoping to hit something. She was excited to use colors on her books, and was immediately receptive to what the different colors were doing to her reading. Once she found a color that made an obvious difference (blue, for reference), she went from never wanting to read to ALWAYS reading. To everyone she could. I'm glad that we were able to help her narrow down what color helped her most (even though she tried really hard to make pink work).

These have been so worth the money, I am really glad I found them. They were durable, for a very active 10 year old boy to tote to school, and have around the house for homework. These have really helped him concentrate on 1 sentence at a time while reading.

As a special ed teacher and person with reading issues, I recommend these highlighter strips. My eyes need the yellow to read without struggle (my eyes don't track from line to line or sometimes even within the line), but I bought the set for the classroom. I found the strip easier to work with than the full page highlighter.
