It works!
I almost returned this item because it looked so flimsy- basically fishing wire. I re-read reviews and decided to move forward with installing it. I suppose it is going to be thin to allow for minimum visibility, which is nice to have for a balcony. Instalation was fairly easy and took some adjusting and stretching but the net has worked perfect and my cats are safe on the balcony now. I would recommend getting some bird blinders which I didn't think about until after I had the net up.

Good for Curious cats
Our cat loves to go outside. But now we have switched apartments and have a balcony so we put this up and she is safe, it’s hard to even notice the wires from the outside. I will say it took us a while to figure out exactly how to put it up.

It is in fact rectangular - you just. Wed to fuss with it!
UPDATE; 1.5 years later this cat net is amazing and we have had zero trouble with my forest cat fighting it, nor the squirrels and birds, et al, that are part of our world only inches away. Everyone is quite impressed - as am I! In this time we’ve also grown a toddler grandchild and although I wouldn’t rely on it as first line of secure protection (just because I’d never let her be on balcony without me!, of course, but i do feel even for a toddler they are strong enuff, but with toddler age comes the climbing and pulling strength. DONT GO THERE.I STILL REMEMBER THE HAIR TEARING BETWEEN MY X & I, though trying to get this sucker put up truly effectively - as one would want it to be. DONTLEAVE GAPS. STAPLE, STAPLE STAPLE (like along the top also - raccoons and such can make it their project to weasel in - happened once but when I awoke I had one in living room and two on deck! BIG PROB as they picked their way in from balcony floor above - now I had three freaked raccoons that were frantic to find the upper spot theY came in - Testimony to durability; they did and I only had the spot along balcony ceiling to reinforce. SO I DONT THINK WE CAN TEST IT GREATER THAN three FAT RACCOONS CLIMBING THE NET FRANTICALLY. only timeIt’s a handful to get initially situated, but in fact it is rectangular! The ends that look like they are tapered just need fully extended. We were very frustrated to begin with but put hooks all around top and bottom of balcony and just kept pulling, stretching, adjusting, until by end of day we did have a close layout going on and it is in fact correct shape and size. We left it stretched out over hooks overnight and today we will run the cord through. We are going to double or triple folding the edges over and run cord thru that for extra strength. We are then going to staple the corded hemlines to the balcony itself. I am a little skeptical of its strength and may add a second net over this later. I really like that mine is clear. The aesthetics are important as I don’t think my new apartment mgmt would tolerate one very visible. If they did, my gut instinct would go for a thicker more robust netting. My Norwegian Forest Cat is a beast and is used to being able to go in the yard and edges of forest, so she is not going to be a happy girl. She is getting older and less athletic w some arthritis as well has had many teeth removed, so those things will likely prove beneficial in this regard. I am thinking I will put dowel rods at both front corners of the netting, from rail top to balcony ceiling to help it maintain shape and minimize looseness and improve aesthetics. I will likely put trellis vertically at both balcony ends (sides) for added security and strength, as those are the areas she would most likely try to tear at netting. The balcony is slatted from rail to floor which will help hold its shape but I may use zip ties as opposed to stapling as it will hold net less rigid making it a bit harder for her to chew on or claw through. I’ll add pics and follow up later.

String has several knots that makes difficult to set the net,
