Q: Are you able to woodburn on these coasters?

If you are asking if you can take a wood Weller and "burn" a design into these coaster, I would say yes. You would be able to do that easily.

Q: Where are these made?

I don't know where these were made ... I am a consumer and purchased a set last year. They are really pretty.

Q: how thick are these coasters

I have two sets and each coaster is approximately 1/2" thick.

Q: Does this have any coating on it? also, any smells like shellac?

Hello. The wood has a smooth natural finish. I have not noticed any type of odors from the coasters. If you like a wood finish, these are nice. Thank you.
