Great addition
Just redid our master closet and always wanted one of these valet rods. I can say I am really glad I bought this, I am thinking of purchasing a second. This valet rod is very sturdy and the hardware piece on the end keeps the items from falling off.

My comments for easier safer installation
I agree with the above comments about how hard it is to get the rod out of the casing. My husband just had back surgery so he couldn't pull on it. I'm not strong enough to get it out by myself, so.. we put the black handle end of the rod under the heels of his boots as he was standing, and I pulled up on the casing part. Warning, don't have your fingers over the holes in the casing when you pull, it ripped my finger open, the drilled holes are very sharp. This is a quality valet rod. It is exactly like the ones the closet company installed with my shelving units 4 years ago, but it is nicer because it sticks out 2" further than the ones I already had, which is nice because I can find it without the sleeves of my shirts hanging in the way, covering the rod. I measured a height for a lower rod so I can hang a pair of pants or skirt on it, and measured the height for an upper rod to be where I can hang a shirt to overlap the skirt or pants to see what the outfit will look like. Wish I had thought of the height I wanted them at when I had the first ones installed 4 years ago. You will like this valet rod

Same rod my custom closet company used.
Wonderful quality! Was looking to add a 2nd rod to my custom closet and found this - the exact same one my closet installers used.

Poor design.
This item was more difficult to install than it needed to be. First you must use enough force to break plastic to get the rod out so you can install the channel. Second, most, if not all, built-in closets have holes pre-drilled for shelves, drawer guides, or valet rods such as this. So why send screws that require drilling more holes to hang this valet? Why not send screws that fit the pre drilled holes? Also, why not cut longer slots in the channel so you have more options for the screw placement based on your pre drilled holes? Third, I thought this design had the rod on a spring that would push it out if you pushed in to release it. Not the case. So why is it so darn expensive?I have it installed after finding screws that fit the pre drilled holes. However, I may remove it and return it as it’s way too expensive for the look and the lack of spring action. Frustrating design and pretty cheap looking. All in all a D or F grade for this item.
