OK if you are fairly savvy.

Kind of finicky to get updated / running linux. Also the Sata controller seemed sketchy, often disconnecting and reconnecting drives. Still trying to figure out the best use of it.

Wired Ethernet does not work out of the box.

Good for android, but for linux is another story...

Allwinner has powerful SoC hardware but unfortunately has the bad reputation of lack of software support. If you want to use their hardware H.264 video codecs (sunxi codecs) for custom projects, not just VLC or Kodi players, forget it, there is no support from the cubieboard forums.

Great little Android machine!

This is a fantastic board. The eMMC memory is very reliable. I have this board running 24/7 since I got it and there are no problems to report.I use 2 of these. One I use at work for prototyping. Another one I use at home as a Minecraft PE server primarily for my family. Both are on 24/7.For home use, I had previously tried using a Minix Neo X7 as a Minecraft PE server. It's NAND flash kept getting corrupted, and the TV box would power down randomly. I had all sorts of problems with it. I tried using many different ROMs, and they were all problematic. That's why I decided to give this board a try as a replacement. For the CubieTruck Plus that I use I home, I purchased a black metal CubieTruck Plus case (not from Amazon). The unit looks fantastic in the case. It's really sturdy, and the whole thing is build like a heat sink, so it keeps everything cool.I like that this board operates at full speed without needing a fan. The CubieTruck Plus comes with a stick on heat sink for the CPU, which is plenty good enough, because it barely gets hot at all.I am running Android 4.4.2 on both machines. I have installed Google Play myself. It doesn't come with Google Play, but it's easy to install. I left instructions on how to install Google Play on the CubieBoard forum, if you're interested. The machine is fast, and runs everything smoothly that I've tried. The board's WiFi works great at work and at home. Although, for increased speed, I am using Ethernet at home. The board appears to be well made, not at all flimsy. There are 2 negatives, which are common to these kinds of lesser known boards. The first negative is community support. It's not as popular as the Raspberry Pi, and therefor has a much smaller community using it. If you're the type of person that constantly rely's on community support, you might have a bit of a problem using something other than a Raspberry Pi. In my opinion, this board is far superior to a Raspberry Pi, especially for running Android. The other negative is a lack of documentation. There is documentation available, but I would like to see more. One BIG positive is that this board supports running directly from a lithium battery. It's got a connector specifically for use with a CubieTruck battery. It has built in support for charging the battery. Many similar boards do not have this feature. This allows you to use this board to make portable devices, and to make servers with their own UPS. Quite nice.If you're looking for an Android board, then I highly recommend this board. It's got a ton of hardware features and runs Android very well.

Good Board

Good board...Better than other boards using the similar Allwinner chipset. I have this board in addition to other boards using the Allwinner H8/A83T processor, and this board appears to be comparatively better.
