Works well for a low cost piece of kit
NF-8209 PoE Network Cable Tester. Yes it's a relatively cheap Chinese bit of kit but it does work surprisingly well.PoE info is spot on and it showed my PoE Switch correctly as 803.2at.Clear result shown when testing the continuity of the 8x wires in a CAT 5/6/7 cable. One minor downside with this tester is that it cannot identify Split Pair faults i.e. where their is continuity 1-1, 2-2 etc but one leg of a twisted pair has been connected to the wrong pin so the pair is no longer a pair to the sending/receiving equipt. Such a cable will work Ok for DC purposes but will have much reduced noise immunity and be prone to slow network speeds due to data being corrupted and needing to be resent. If you are super careful with your colour codes when terminating sockets or making up RJ-45 plugs then this should be a very rare fault.....The cable length measurement seemed approx. Ok when I checked a 5m patch lead out of curiosity. I doubt it would be accurate enough to depend on it to cut a hole in the wall to access the cable where the tester said was the Open Circuit though! For the money (I paid £46.99 in May 2022) it is a great little tester - it may not have Fluke levels of accuracy but for a fraction of the price of the Fluke kit, it is well worth having.Recommended.ps - It is supplied in a zip up black case - I wasn't clear when I ordered it whether a case was included or not, but it is..

Great but for having to swap the cable into different ports for different features
Like I said in the title, having to swap the cable into different ports is a pity, but it's still a quality product for the price. It's far superior than my old el-cheapo €10 tester that I had - the old one worked fine, but this one has so many more features that even a DIY-er installing cables from time to time would fine very useful. PoE testing is good too! Granted it's not as superior as the really great testers available but they are 3 times the cost or more!Overall, I'd thoroughly recommend this cable tester for most people, even some professional installers.

Cable Tracy
If you're a engineer and need a cable tracer this is the one to purchase. Testing and cable tracer in one. Great

This has saved me so much time
The main reason I purchased this item was to use the scan feature to locate network cables. I've been working on sites where the wall port numbers do not match the patch panel numbers and the scan feature finds the corresponding ports in seconds. I have tried the other features and they work great including cable length, POE voltage output and cable checker. It is worth getting this one with the digital display over the cheaper ones which just have LEDs, it is much easier to read when cable testing.

Professional quality prduct.
Bought for my son, a Network engineer, because his current employer doesn't do network installations, just runs an intercontinental network - USA, Europe and India.
