Love it
I have PCOS-induced hair thinning. And have struggled with loving my hair for a while now. I bought this crimper to add volume to my roots. And it does just that with wonderful results. This is my first crimper ever.Compared to teasing and texture sprays, with this crimper, my hair holds the volume and texture longer. For context, my hair is naturally curly and wavy, and thus holds texture, but lacks volume. So I drench my hair with a heat protectant, blow dry it straight, and then crimp the roots of the lower layers. Works like a charm. I love the body it gives - it looks more natural and not helmet-y.I have also crimped all my hair with this crimper, and not just the roots, and luuuuuuved the volume and texture it created, which is wonderful for updos and braided hairstyles. I slept on it, applied scalp serums, etc. for two days from crimping without losing volume.ALSO, this creates micro crimps. Which makes the texture look more natural - that is if that is the look you are going for.I have medium-thickness hair and thus get good results at 330 degrees. The included instructions give you info about temperature recommendations. It heats up within a minute.I was inspired to buy this device after I saw the $150 waffle-iron-looking root texturizer. And watched a lot of YouTube videos before committing to a crimper. And I'm very happy that I did. As I mentioned before I have wanted to love my hair desperately for a long time now. And to think that it was just this simple has me reeling with happiness. This will help me hold a better attitude towards myself while I work at re-growing some of my hair back.It adds just about 5 extra minutes to my styling routine - but with mega payback. Love it!

Works like description
I have really thick hair but by day two or three, my hair needs a little lift. This works great just at the root to give it some lift to get an extra day or two.

Nicely angled ridges, not too deep, good for fine hair.
Purchased it a 2nd time!!!I had this magic wand a few years ago and gave it away only because i started perming hair to get volume. And boy did i regret giving this away.I have baby fine straight hair.Grew out perm recently and decided to get a crimper again however, got bedhead brand instead - what a waste (horrible sharp deep ridges, hair slides all over the place when pressing plates together).Reordered Hot tools crimper right away: perfect angled ridges that are not very deep - perfect for fine hair, crimps evenly without damage(find your temperature, start with low).Provides gentle crimps that gives your baby fine hair volume and are not very noticeable. I used to use it on my whole head and it would look amazing, be it a braid, a pony tail or just letting hair down.I can go on and on with positives for this crimper.I really hope this review will help you get the right tool for your baby fine fine straight hair.

Perfect for giving volume to fine hair everyday. Can't live without it!
I bought this a few months ago on a recommendation from my hair dresser. She uses the more expensive Sam Villa version, but this one works exactly the same for significantly less money. I use it every day on my super fine hair to give it volume at the roots. It works perfect and does exactly what I needed to do. The crimps will last until you wash your hair. My reason for giving it four stars is a few items: first, it does not support dual voltage, and I travel quite a bit internationally, so this is a problem. Second, it does not have an auto shut off feature. The crimper gets very hot, and there has been more than one occasion I have accidentally left it on after going to work. An auto shut off would just be a good safety feature. Third, I find the 8 foot cord for my home use a bit cumbersome. I would prefer a slightly shorter cord. Regardless, I highly recommend this product to everyone I know with very fine, limp hair like me. I do like that it heats up fast and has multiple temp settings. I also like that that it doesn't get so hot that I am able to hold the end with the plates to press the crimp faster and deeper. I use it for only a few minutes each day, that makes a huge difference in how my hair looks.

Bought to add volume at roots- didn’t do the job
This is one wobbly, cheap feeling tool. Even if it would have done what I wanted it to, I probably still wouldn’t have kept it. It just felt so cheap , all the way around. Flimsy and wobbly. Nope

Do you need more volume? Try this iron
If you have thin hairs like mine, spend average 20 mins blow drying your hair every morning to get more volume, get this hair iron and save yourself from the misery. I saw other expensive hair iron for volume on Fb and decided to purchase that specific product. After reviewing Youtube videos by professional hair stylists for hours, I decided to get this one instead. Works like a charm and now I can save so much time and no more hassle for more volume!! It is easy to use and heats up pretty quickly. And it looks fantastic when you are doing updo hair styles with so much volume, too! I have used other hot tools curling hair irons, and it was recommended by my hair stylist, works perfectly after years of daily use. It is just a great product with affordable prices.

Don’t buy
I used this crimper twice and then it stopped working. The light turns on but the plates don’t heat up. Super embarrassing because it stopped working while I was in the middle of doing a bridal session.
