I felt I was drowning in meaningless drivel on the Internet, but I couldn't get myself to read the Bible, not seeing a way forward in approaching it.Then, I started to lead a Bible study and read Kathleen Nielson's book "Bible Study". It was a very helpful guide to how to approach the Word of God.This book on the Gospel of John is just what I needed to actually study the Bible.It is a workbook with questions. The lessons are divided into weeks with several questions per day.Dr. Nielson's questions are not of the "how do you feel about this?" variety but, rather, point my attention to what the text is actually saying.I am so lazy, and I would rather read just about any stupid thing than study the Bible. But Dr. Neilson doesn't let me off the hook. She has written a challenging, but rewarding, study guide that makes me come alive by interacting with God's Word. I want to squirm out of it, but this medicine is good and is really taking hold. I'm seeing what John is imparting in his Gospel, "that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the son of God; and that by believing you may have life in his name."Although I am the only one using the book as I prepare for our group, it has worked out really well for us in our study of John.

Got this book for group Bible study. The lessons are long & difficult and the group is frustrated with this session. Our group leader has had to breakdown the chapters using alternate scriptures for us to be able to have a deeper understanding of the chapter with many in our group extremely familiar with the book of John. Very frustrating & will be glad when this session is over. We’ve lost so much time trying to decider the questions.

I bought this because I was researching this author. We are using her Bible Study on Joshua at church and wanted to see what her other material was like. I like how user-friendly this guide is. The fold back spiral makes it really easy to write in and take notes. The font and layout make it easy to read as well. The author's background in literature helps her asks great questions that get the reader to discover what the book has to offer. I am very impressed with this so far.

Book came with very little wear, if any. It was on time. This is the most wonderful bible study book. It started me on the journey to belief.It is beautiful and the most wondrous gospel in the bible. (to me). I like this bible study author.

This is a great Bible Study book for a group or individual study. I have enjoyed it because it explores the literary themes and relates them to spiritual themes and Old Testament scriptures. Very in-depth study.

I led a group of college women through this study. Because of school breaks it took us a year to finish, but we loved the journey! The study prompted awesome discussion every week. It's an in-depth study that gets you really digging into scripture. We loved Kathleen so much we are now starting her Isaiah study!

This study is a favorite of mine. I am doing it again because I love the way that Kathleen takes us back to the Old Testament to explain things that are happening in Jesus' time. She guides us deep into the Scripture! I highly recommend this study!

The author directs us to see the things about the diety of Jesus in the gospel of John that is seldom seen. Love the book. Highly recommend.
