Awesome journal
These things are great for character journals. The design is awesome and has everything laid out and organized well making whatever you’re looking for easy to find. I got them for all my players. Would definitely recommend.

Appreciated
Always wanted to play D&D. At my ripe age of 34 I'm finally getting into it and this was one of my first purchases to get me on my way. The journal is laid out very well and offers plenty of features to mark notable happening along your journey.Have fun, friends!

Perfect little book of holding
As a fan of traditional pen & paper TTRPG, I was excited to see Field Notes offered a bespoke D&D notebook. The designer clearly loves the game and included everything you might need for streamlined playing and comprehensive RPing. I especially love the class table, which has space for abilities and improvements for each level, essentially negating the need to consult sourcebooks when leveling up. There’s a bit of wasted space if you’re not a spell caster, but the light brown printing means you can easily “overtake” those pages with w/e you choose to fill them with instead. While there’s space for notes, it can feel a bit limited if you’re like me- a rabid note taker, so I decided to get a second, plain notebook for all the hastily scribbled lore and probably misspelt NPCs. At the end of the session, transferring what I know is important into the character notebook keeps things organized and helps me recap and remember what happened. My only complaint was that I found myself scrambling to get back to the character sheet (page 10) when it was my turn to roll, but I just cut off a bit from the corner of all the pages before it and now it’s easy to flip to in an instant.Overall- this is a fantastic notebook for keeping your head in the game, your notes organized, and your equipment compact.

Good, but suffers from space
A big note on this is that I do find the paper, font, style, etc all to be very nice. However, it has some awkward design to it that causes the same issues a standard character sheet does. Some items are given tons and tons of space (three pages for spells, 6 for faction details, two for treasure, and even a whole page for notes on each of your character's levels). Some items are given a fine amount of space, such as half a page for bonds/flaws, a full page for equipment...And some are given too much or not enough. Like 6 pages for "Campaign Quotes and Notes". If you're going to use the full 20 levels in the book, you're going to be playing for years. 6 pages does not cover 100+ sessions. To solve this, use a separate book for campaign notes. Leave important stuff in the journal and a complete summary in the separate book. The biggest kicker is the book kind of assumes you don't multiclass. There's half a page for Subclass skills. One spellcasting table (spells known, cantrips known, casting mod, etc). There's a box to mark your background. Ex. Acolyte, Sailor, etc. There is no box for feats. Whether from class, race, circumstance, or background. Just no page labeled "Feats". So check your notes level-by-level to read a detail on a feat you picked up 30 sessions ago.

Inside little hard to read
The pages inside are printed in gold ink making them a little hard to read but overall great for keeping a character journal
