Got it for my Moms 93rd Birthday! She Loves It!!!!

I saw a similar item advertised on tv. The Amazon reviewers had issues with that item, but the Autobar received positive reviews. So I bought it to help my 89 year old mother get in and out of the car. She loves it! Every time she uses it she says how much easier it is for her to stand up and get out of the car. I don't have to assist her anymore. It helps a bit for getting in, but I guess what with gravity, getting into the car isn't nearly as difficult as getting up and out. I leave the Autobar in the passenger door side pocket so we won't leave home without it. My mom highly recommends it. In fact, she has shown it to the driver at her retirement residence. He was impressed and decided to buy one from his own pocket. Also, Life Solutions. sent the Autobar promptly and in good condition.

Much more sturdy than I had expected. This is a real help for my father in law who is not very mobile. The cast aluminum that inserts into the door receiver is thick and solid. It can handle a great deal of weight and pressure. The handle is chunky and perfect for someone who, like him, has arthritis in his hands. With this device, he can swivel into the car's front seat which was difficult as there was nothing to hold on to. A very good product. We just leave it in the car so it is always available. An excellent buy. While not our primary purpose for it, it would clearly serve well as a seatbelt cutter and window break device in an emergency. Clever combination of functions.

This implement makes entry and exit of a vehicle much more stabile. It takes up little space and is very well made. My wife is currently at a care center after breaking her hip and relearning how to enter and exit a car. I bought this, showed it to the occupational therapists working with my wife (who were unaware of its existence) and they're very interested in showing it to other clients.

I ordered the Autobar just before I had to pick up my adult son after extensive spinal surgery.The hospital staff helped him into the car. When we got home, I went to the mailbox, and the Autobar was there. I used it immediately--we opened the car door, attached the Autobar, and my son was able to slide over in the seat and pull himself up into his wheelchair. It was such a relief to have this assist.The Autobar is a nice-looking tool, substantial, and works perfectly.I was contacted by the company and asked to give a review, and I am very happy to do that since it was such a help. My son will use it often whenever he has to go in or out of a car.

A simple device that can have a tremendous effect in certain circumstances, while working as a functional aid in everyday life. Effective in providing certain individuals substantial assistance in entering and exiting a vehicle. As well as being able to render help in emergency situations by cutting jammed seat belts or breaking auto glass to allow escape from the interior of a vehicle, not only from users vehicle but also in rending aid to other motorists.

Works Great for getting in and out of the car. My 84 year old father really had difficulty reying to hang onto the door and the windshiel post trying to get in the passenger seat. This Car Assist Bar is great. He can now hold onto the Assist Bar, which is very stable, and back right onto the seat! It is also a pluse have the window breaking feature along with the seat belt cutting feature for emergency situations!

My mom LOVES it! Purchased this for my mother, who lives in another state, after she had knee surgery. She loves her Autobar, and wishes we had had one for my dad, who recently passed away from Parkinson's. Until the last few months he still had upper-body strength, but it was still SO hard to help him in and out of the car; this would have increased his independence and made it easier on both my mother's back and knee. I intentionally purchased this Autobar because it has no built-in features (others have flashlights, keyholders, etc) - this one is perfect for Mom, who doesn't like all of those "extras" and appreciates a simple tool that simply works great. Her memory isn't the best, so it actually took her a couple of weeks to take the Autobar out to the car, lol. If you or the person you're buying this for is like her, leave it in the car (first choice) or always with your keys.
