This book has it all. Amazing reference on the Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel. A little lighter on St Peter’s but covers some of the best sculptures. I am enjoying it immensely.

The magnificent artwork along with the curating is exceptional. It proudly sits on my coffee table along with another remarkable book hosting a collection of paintings. It has been been beautifully choreographed both literally and figuratively. You will not be disappointed. I promise.

Buy it if you appreciate great art from the masters.

This book of paintings, frescoes, sculptures from the Vatican Museums is beautifully illustrated and written. Highly recommend.

Of course, this book includes close-ups of the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel, but unless you work at the Vatican, you won’t ever be able to see all of the paintings in person.

They book is very well done and includes art that may no be on display on any given visit. Even if it was finding it and having time to enjoy is hard with the time you might have to savor they artwork .

It's probably one of the best, if not THE BEST, art history books on the Vatican I've seen. I've studied art history my whole life, and even though I did not graduate with an Art History degree, I can say this book is of college or graduate college-level quality but easy to understand for the layperson who wants to learn about Art History in the Vatican. We purchased it for a trip we plan to make next year to Rome and need/want to learn before we see the artwork in person/so we know what we are looking at and do not look like stupid Americans!

It is great to have a record of all the paintings in the Vatican. The only problem I have is that some of the image quality is not up to par. (Overall the Louvre book has better reproductions but that collection is more accessible.) Several of the Sistine Chapel frescoes are illustrated with images from prior to the restoration that was completed in 1999. In particular the Michelangelo lunettes which are overexposed images of the pre-cleaned frescoes. Also their are a 2-3 heavily pixelated images due to being overly enlarged. Most of the images, and there are almost a thousand, are of good quality. I would recommend Taschen's recent XL book on Michelangelo for a more accurate representation of the Sistine Chapel's frescoes and the "Loggia of Raphael" by Abbeville for the same reason. Glad to have it, but wish the editors dug a little deeper some of the images.

Most of the art in the Vatican is in this book, some with fold out pages.Really a beautiful book!

Esse livro serve tanto pra quem nunca foi ao Vaticano quanto pra quem foi e pretende relembrar as obras. A edição está um luxo: box resistente, volume grande, grosso e pesadão (to falando do livro), folhas com ótima gramatura e aquele cheirinho de tinta inebriante. É um livro que vai servir de herança no futuro, porque ninguém vai ser doido de querer se livrar dessa preciosidade

É um livro maravilhoso para ver e rever ao longo dos tempos. Belas fotografias com descrições mais ou menos pormenorizadas sobre cada uma delas.Um livro para guardar com todo o carinho e que todos os apreciadores de arte gostariam de ter.

Fue una compra que valió mucho la pena.
