Professional Chef’s Knife, 8 Inch German High Carbon Stainless Steel Cooking Knife, Very Sharp, Balanced Comfortable Handle, Multipurpose Top Kitchen Knife for Home and Restaurant

I was looking for a quality 8 inch chef's knife for essentially most kitchen purposes and started looking at knives with prices much higher than this one. On careful reading many much more expensive knives included reviews indicating questionable value and questionable sellers.I confess that I picked this knife in part on the price. I could certainly afford to absorb the loss if it was a dud or arrived in less than pristine condition. It arrive VERY sharp, solid construction, new, well balanced, very usable. I've only had it a few weeks, so the jury is still out and I have yet to have to sharpen it to determine how well that process works but it has been the exact multi purpose knife that I needed and wanted.

I purchased this knife during Amazon day. Thought I'd take a chance on it. It's been one of the best purchases through Amazon yet! Previously I had a large chef knife as my major work horse for home cooking. I've since retired in favor of this knife. It's sharp out of the box, easy to handle, fairly well balanced. It reduced a lot of the effort involved in prep compared to using the larger knife. Definitely recommend it to anybody out there looking to expand their collection.

Came sharp as hell. Handle workmanship needs some work. There is a 1 mm gap on one side of the handle at the heal. Pretty nice blade and quite nimble. Not the most comfortable handle but I’ve used worse. It’s by no means an enso or global but good and inexpensive to hone your knife skills with.

I have ordered 4 of these knives. I work at a restaurant and if you need a knife that you can sharpen to a crazy edge and that is a good price (I bought a few at 16 to 18 dollars when on sale or with coupons) then you should buy this knife. I have smaller hands so this fits perfectly in it and is comfortable for long term use. It came out of the box sharp but we used wet stones to get it to a razor sharp edge!

great balance to this knife and holds an amazing edge. its a little light for me considering I like a heavy blade in my hand but it cuts though vegetables and steak with ease. the price was amazing for the quality but I do not think that it is worth the $199 that they say is its original starting point. would definatly look into buying more from them or a set if offered to keep at parents and cabin.

The chef's knife that came with our "made in India" knife set wasn't sharp enough to slice a potato. I wanted a quality replacement. This fills the bill well. It comes with a sharp edge, and it keeps it. Just remember to use the honing rod (steel or ceramic) occasionally to keep the edge in top shape.

Stars are for shipping fast and as pictured in a nice box. Stars taken off for Reasons: upon receiving the knife and opening the box, knife had to be sharpened to smooth the cutting edge as it was rough when I inspected it. Then I cleaned it. I wrapped the entire handle with pretty lace design duct tape because the rivets holding the handle on were sticking sharply up through handle and need to be smoothed to not cause hand irritation or possible cuts while using. Any item that can cause injury from a defect in manufacturing worries me. I have checked the blade after sharpening and smoothing rough bits off. I cut through a piece of paper to check it. It cuts fine after being sharpened. I work in the food industry. I would not recommend this knife due to manufacturers defects in handle, plus the rough edge with burs sticking up on cutting side of blade. These defects are not acceptable... if I buy a product it should be perfect for use upon arrival; this was not.

I got this knife for a gift several years ago. I like to so much I have given it as gifts several times . I feel good to the had, thin blade and keep sharp.
