This was a much better experience than the Banana Pi

This was a much better experience than the Banana Pi, especially since my other Cubietruck has been up/running/stable for the last few years after being attached to a UPS.Great little kit, pretty much packs all you need in 1 box. The included case is nicer than my previous one, it wraps around the entire board which should provide more protection from spills, static electricity, etc.Biggest hurdle was getting the OS installed - I ended up going with debian-server-ct-nand-v1.0.img.7z from 20141201 and used the latest LiveSuit(e) for Linux from my PC running Ubuntu 14.04-64-LTS to flash the image to NAND. (The images I was finding for microSD card were mostly outdated or had problems booting.) Bonus, the debian server image formats the available NAND space properly and you get full use of it! It also boots to text mode and will even boot headless, which is a plus - since the board is being used as a Squid caching proxy server and doesn't need GUI.A big decider in favor of this board is the SATA port and included cables, as well, although a USB3 thumbdrive may give somewhat equivalent performance. If you don't have an HDMI TV for display, I use an Amazon Basics converter cable HDMI -> DVI that works with some older monitors - mine is a Viewsonic -- no problems.I attached the included heatsink to the A20 chip and expect to get years of reliable use out of this Cubietruck (just like my other one) - would definitely buy this kit again and recommend it to others.PROTIP: ' nmap -v -sP 192.168.1.0/24 |grep -v down ' (replace with your home network IP range) to find the CT on your network once it's up and running. Use the README information from the debian server FTP site to SSH in.PROTIP: The Cubietruck has a couple of pretty good online forums for support ;-)

The case itself fit fine and is a sleek rubberized material

This Single Board Computer has been performing well out of the box. I started it from bootloader into Android. It does not recognize DVI monitors, so I hooked it up in VGA mode. There is a way to configure it for DVI monitors. One problem I had with this item was the case for the Cubietruck. The case itself fit fine and is a sleek rubberized material. It has a molded clear plastic lens for the LEDs and hats for the ON/Off and FEL buttons. The problem was that the heads of the screws were to large in diameter. They would not fit down the post holes. Drilling out or reaming the posts is not an option. I didn't have the right screws available so I used electrical tape to hold the two parts of the case together. That is the reason for the 4/5 stars.

Works well and is capable.

It works well and is really powerful for its price. I installed Cubian on it which is a derivative of Debian Linux.
