Mashrou' Leila have been described as 'the voice of their generation' and 'the Arab world's most influential independent band' by CNN and The Financial Times, respectively. Here, they mark their 10th anniversary with the release of 'The Beirut School' - a compilation of their classic tracks and new material. The album brings together the key songs from their first four albums, and also features three new songs: 'Cavalry', 'Salam' and 'Radio Romance', that were produced by Joe Goddard of Hot Chip from sessions in the band's studio in Beirut and at the legendary La Frette Studios in Paris.

Transcends language
I have only been into Mashrou Leila for 6 months and have their 1st 3 albums from which this hits package draws from. They are BRILLIANT and their music transcends language (they sing in Lebanese). The music is a fusion of Arabic folk, orchestral, and electronic genres and is beautiful. Not quite pop, not quite dance, not quite disco yet it is all of these. If you chose to search out their videos and translations of their songs, you'll discover that they are very political, supporting women and gay rights in the Arabic world which is in itself brave I am sure. There are also 3 brilliant new songs to enjoy. The sign of good music is when it transcends language - proving how universal good music really is. Congratulations on 10 years Mashrou Leila.
