Trauma informed view of attachment
Best book on attachment I've ever read. Its a short book that really packs a punch. The trauma informed view really makes things make sense - concepts are landing in a way they never have from other explanations. There are also practices in the book.

Challenging material but so helpful
I find it difficult and emotional, like going through a grieving process, but ultimately very rewarding. The exercises are helpful, too.

Dysfunctional adult relationships rooted in childhood attachment issues
Dr. Heller gets to the heart of relationship problems many adults like me have struggled with for years. Being a disciple of one of my favorite trauma therapists, Dr. Peter Levine, Dr. Heller takes the often complex and thorny issue of attachment and explains it in a way that non-psychologists can easily understand. She outlines the three dysfunctional attachment styles (avoidant, ambivalent, and disorganized) and explains their childhood origins, and also includes exercises to help readers develop the healthier and more desirable secure attachment style for their relationships. If, like me, you've dealt with one failed romantic relationship after another, especially with individuals who’ve compulsively lied, manipulated, or taken advantage of your kind and generous nature, this book will give you a different perspective on why those relationships were doomed to fail and what you can do about keeping future relationships from following the same path.
