R.L. Stine: The Haunting Hour: Volume 1

I bought all of the dvds because my daughter loves spooky shows. This is a good series but the DVD numbers do not equate with the seasons. In other words dvd #1 does not mean season #1. Some episodes are not included in the DVD sets, such as Lily D Part II.

My daughter loved this show growing up. She's a little older now, but she still has a craving to revisit these stories. This is well done, family-friendly horror that has held up over the years. It's a tad more scary than Goosebumps for those timid kids. We used to have every episode saved on the DVR when it aired new years ago, but we moved in 2016 and had to turn in our older equipment and haven't seen these since until recently acquiring on DVD through Amazon. Nice to own most of the series on DVD for generations that follow.

This is R.L. Stines version or modern day version of Goosebumps with a better budget & better sets,serious stories that actually are creepy as to cheesey. If you used to like Goosebumps as a kid and you want your kids to watch what you used to watch then get this. It is alot better done than Goosebumps,however i was a huge fan and that is why i collected all the dvds and these. I have nieces and they love them and when i have kids they will love em like i did i hope. These are totally safe for kids 5-12 years old there is no bad language or any provacative stuff. If your kids like creepy movies get em this.The first installment has 5 episodes and the first episode is the lenght of 2(2part episode) and 3 more episodes. It is cool your kids will like it.

I'm watching this series with my kids, 4 and 7 year old boys, and it's pretty creepy even for me. In the second episode of season 1, Really You, Bailee Madison's portrayal of a really disturbed child, who is eventually abandoned by her mother for the life-sized doll that slowly becomes and replaces her, is a little intense for them. Her scary, emotional performance seems like something fitted for a much more adult audience.Subsequent episodes don't (as far as we've watched) ratchet down the creepy factor for my kids. The direction, makeup, and psychological intensity of the storylines keep my kids intently focussed on each episode. But the scares aren't all monsters or supernatural forces. Fears of abandonment, isolation, and familial instability make the show scary in more ways than Goosebumps ever was.

Youn only get 5 episodes per season instead of 23 episodes so you would have to pay several times to get just one true season! Does the company even know what’s going on! ?

As a kid I loved this show, as an adult it is really not as a good as a remember. A lot of episodes are more boring than scary. A lot of the acting is pretty bad, and the writing can be downright terrible, and not in a funny way. It tries to touch adult topics like divorce, but they are not explored very well. Adults characters act in a way that is too unrealistic, even for the genre, and the teenagers are usually just stereotypical. Goosebumps or, Are You Afraid of The Dark are more enjoyable. Little kids might like it, it can be good sometimes, but overall it's mostly a lower quality goosebumps.

Schade, dass es diese Serie nicht in deutsch gibt - oder wenigstens auf europäischen Discs. Der amerikanische Ländercode macht das Ganze schon etwas kompliziert.Das ändert aber nichts daran, dass die Serie klasse grusel für Jung und durchaus auch für Alt bietet.

Far too scary to let a 12 yr watch , it’s a full horror film he was scared out if his wits at 12, please make it a 15
