Very clear display
Finally got around to putting this together. It was a little tricky to get the screen driver installed, but I just followed the instructions and everything went well. It is a very clear display the game system I built with it made a nice gift.

great value, but you may want to add a fan if it didn't ship with one
Pros:+ great display, outstanding value for the $$+ installed right onto my Pi 3Cons+ they ship different versions! e.g. mine came without a fan, though the screen has a 2-pin receptacle for a fan. You can order "JST-PH 2.0" male connector if you need one to allow installing your own fan+ polarity (red/black) on the fan receptacle is reversed+ the supplied instructions didn't match the display sent -- e.g. I needed a different driver version (LCD35-show instead of MHS35-show). Your download will pull about 20 different versions of drivers, just find the right one.+ also the spacer post installation was different from how described, and required removing a plastic sticker.+ with the supplied case increases CPU temp about 10C, to 50C. Not the end of the world frankly.+ despite the dedicated "Fan" receptacle, no apparent way to control fan speed+ no way to control screen brightnessCPU Temperature control:My temperature (under light load .. just running pihole and PADD) increased from ~40C to 50C. There just is no ventilation with this screen installed. Suggestions:1. drill lots of vent holes around the side of the case2. install a fan. if you can squeeze one inside the case (probably a 30x30x10mm) then let us know how that went. However I installed a Noctua 40x40x10 5V on the outside -- bottom side of the case, even though the CPU is on the topside of the motherboard. See photo (including the polarity reversal on the connectors).This brought my CPU temp down to 38C, even cooler than it was before I switched cases to use this display.

A lot of artifact no good support.
The drivers that came with the product did not work for me at all. When I installed them my pi wasn’t outputting anything but a black screen even if connected to HDMI.Eventually tried several work around and got a mirroring display setup. Then I was trying to figure out speed rotations and sizes for the correct display output but it wasn’t working for me. Even tried using chat gpt to help me.Just get an official waveshare screen from the website do not buy a clone.

Nice case, screen won't work once code is executed*
The case was nice and I was happy to see it come with heat sinks, but as soon as you run the code to make the screen work, it boots to a black screen and you have to re-install the Pi OS in order to get anything to work again.**Edit from 1-star to 3** Instructions and website don't tell you that the most recent OS doesn't work with this. In the comments, I found this gem that helped solve my problem."I finally got this working but it took a few days to realize that the drivers in the instructions for this do not work on the most recent Raspberry Pi OS (Bookworm). After installing Bullseye on it everything worked just fine"

Works great with some fiddling
After installing the screen and following the instructions to install the driver, the screen worked great. However, I was having an issue where the screen refused to work after booting into console mode (I'm using this screen for a pi-hole PADD display). It would just keep the boot text on the screen with no way to clear it. I searched all over their wiki and online and found a single user on github that pointed out a fix so I could get this to work. Here's what I did:1) Flash Raspian Buster onto your SD card (I didn't try installing the Lite version as this Amazon page says their drivers won't work with it).2) Install the drivers following their directions on this page or on their wiki page.3) Confirm the screen is working, also go ahead and rotate / adjust the screen if you need to.4) Edit /etc/rc.local and comment out the line that reads 'fbcp &' by adding a # in front of it (should be near the bottom).5) Go into raspi-config and change your boot options to boot in console mode with auto-login.6) Reboot, you should successfully be able to boot into console mode with this screen.With that being said, this is a fantastic deal for what I needed it for. Just needed a couple work arounds.

Fun addition to a Pi
I bought this to make a portable computer for data transfers from one microSD card to a portable SSD when traveling with my GoPro and drone. Follow the directions in the included instructions and you shouldn't have a problem with the coding to get the screen to work. The screen picture is adequate for its purpose. The screen is not capacitive like an iPhone. It is pressure sensitive like an old school Palm stylus device. You can use your fingernail, but you might not get the precision like you'd get with the stylus. There isn't a storage area for the stylus, which would be nice not to have to keep up with a separate thing. I store it in an AmazonBasics portable hard drive nylon case with a power plug. Nice little travel package!

Can't beat the price
It's a great little screen for the price. The image quality is not the best on the market however at this price you can't beat the value for money. Assembly and driver installation is simple if you are familiar with Raspberry Pi.The attached photo shows where to put each of the provided components.To install the driver, just follow the steps shows in the video of this Amazon product description. Basically, you will have to clone a github repo and execute a script with root privilege. The easiest is to SSH into your Raspberry Pi to execute the commands. If you don't know how to SSH, you can connect a monitor to the PI in order to see what you're doing.Hope this helps.
