I bought this to replace a solid PVC elbow that I was using to connect the pipes that drain the water from my washing machine. With the solid pipe, I was always concerned that the vibrations of the machine would work the elbow loose and I have to disconnect and reconnect this piping every time I use the washing machine so I was worried that over time the elbow would wear and get looser.The metal screw-on thingies make for a much more reliable connection and the softness of the rubber gives me a better idea of how well-connected it is on both pieces of the pipe. The one problem that I did encounter with it is that the rubber is so soft that the bend can twist and cut off the flow of water. Being aware of that prevents it from being a big problem as I just have to be careful when I line everything up and make my connections.

I've been using the straight 2"-2" Fernco fittings for a while to adapt between the seemingly 450 sizes of shop vac connections. For some reason those things never seem to be compatible with one another. Why would you make a machine with a dust collection port that is the SAME SIZE as the end (female) of a standard shop vac hose?!?! Makes no sense. Fernco is the SOLUTION! They were out of stock on these 90 deg fittings at the local big bo store. Was super happy to find them here at a great price.

I use these on a shop vac with a Cyclone Separator if I have an odd bend. They also make straight and 45 degree fittings that will adapt to odd size ports on the mini cyclones.

I've used for some temporary hookups during remodels and also where it nice to have some flex in a connection. Hard to find in hardware and big box stores.

Worked as described. Probable could have bought the same thing at Home Depot for a little less but this was convenient
